Original job description
Senior Claims Advocate | Magna Insurance Group
When a client faces a loss, the policy is just the beginning. What happens next is where we make our promise real.
At Magna Insurance Group, claims advocacy isn’t an extra. It’s how we work: staying involved from loss to resolution, bringing technical expertise, and helping clients navigate uncertainty. We’re looking for a Senior Claims Advocate who loves the detail, understands the human impact of a claim, and pairs rigorous analysis with the courage to have difficult conversations.
Love claims? Here’s a technical leadership opportunity where you can make a real difference.
- You’ll oversee significant or complex claims, track progress and documentation, and escalate delays or disagreements that could hurt the client.
- You’ll dig into policy wordings, endorsements, exclusions, deductibles, and coverage.
- You’ll untangle complex coverage issues, identify what needs clarification, and explain the implications in plain language.
- You’ll respond to reservations of rights, disputed coverage, and denials with sound reasoning and a clear plan.
- You’ll handle tough conversations confidently and respectfully with insurers, independent adjusters, legal counsel, restoration contractors, and senior company representatives.
- You’ll keep clients informed: where things stand, what’s next, and how we’re advocating for them.
- Beyond individual files, you’ll use loss reporting and analysis to spot significant exposures, recurring issues, and emerging trends.
What you will bring
You bring 8–10 years or more of property and casualty and automobile insurance experience, particularly in commercial claims. Your background could be in brokerage claims, with an insurer, or at an adjusting firm.
You’ll need CIP at minimum (FCIP preferred), a CRM designation, and a willingness to obtain the appropriate Alberta broker’s license.
Sound like your kind of role? Let’s connect.
Please send your resume to pnienhuis@magnains.ca.
