DEPARTMENT: Administration

REPORT TO: Volunteer Manager

DIRECT REPORTS: None

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, Permanent

WORK SHIFT: Days (Tuesday -Saturday)

LOCATION: 661 Main Street

Main Street Project (MSP) is a community health Centre with a mandate to address the social determinants of health which give rise to issues of addiction, physical and mental health issues and homelessness. MSP uses housing-first and harm reduction principles in the provision of a safe, respectful and accessible place for individuals who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness in the community. Since 1972, MSP has been providing a range of services to Winnipeg's most marginalized residents, including emergency shelter and nutrition services, drug and alcohol withdrawal management services, health advocacy and support, case management services, housing support services, food bank services and a mobile community outreach program.

Job Summary

The Donations & Clothing Store Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and operation of Main Street Project’s Donation Room and Free Clothing Store. This position oversees donation intake, sorting, inventory, care packages, participant shopping appointments, and volunteer support. The role also supports donation drives and special initiatives. The Coordinator builds and maintains relationships with donors, volunteers, community partners, and MSP programs to support donation and clothing needs.

Key Responsibilities

Donation Room Operations

Monitor and respond to the donation email.
Answer the donation phone and respond to donor inquiries.
Assist donors and explain donation guidelines.
Coordinate donation drop-offs
Receive donations and determine whether items can be accepted.
Communicate donation needs and create callouts when stock is low.
Maintain positive relationships with donors and community partners.
Make a list of participating donors, businesses and volunteer groups
Able to provide inventory reports of items to be used in programs
Maintain an organized and efficient sorting system.
Co-facilitate donation drives and donation events
Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator to support and coordinate volunteer groups of up to approximately 20 volunteers.
Train volunteers on sorting, organization and donation procedures.
Arrange re-donation or disposal of unsuitable items.
Create care packages for MSP programs that include clothing and toiletries.
Communicate with other programs when packages are ready for pickup

Clothing Store Operations

Complete final stocking and organization of the Clothing Store.
Organize and stock the clothing department as needed
Facilitate approximately 2–3 volunteers on operating days as required.
Train Clothing Store volunteers.

Use the Store Clerk and Store Organizer/Sorter job descriptions.

Create and maintain a participant appointment system.
Coordinate shopping appointments with caseworkers and support workers.

Additional Requirements

Satisfactory Criminal Record with clear Vulnerable Sector Search, and a clear Adult Abuse Registry Check is required. The employee is responsible for any service charges incurred.
Valid Class 5 full driver's licence
