We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant & Office Manager to join our team in Toronto. Reporting directly to the CFO/CCO, this position will be responsible for the firm's accounting and financial reporting functions, CIRO regulatory reporting and capital requirements, as well as selected office administration and human resources responsibilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who is interested in developing or applying specialized experience in investment dealer accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial services operations.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

Maintain the firm's general ledger, trial balance, and accounting records.
Prepare monthly financial reporting packages and supporting working papers.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and related reconciliations.
Prepare account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
Maintain accurate and complete financial records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
Support the preparation of annual audited financial statements and year-end working papers.
Coordinate with external auditors and provide requested documentation and explanations.
Assist with corporate tax filings and other financial reporting requirements.

CIRO Regulatory Reporting & Capital Management

Prepare and submit Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs) and other required regulatory filings to the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO) within prescribed deadlines.
Perform and maintain Risk Adjusted Capital (RAC) calculations and monitor the firm's capital position on an ongoing basis.
Ensure the firm's financial reporting and capital calculations comply with applicable CIRO requirements.
Monitor financial and regulatory requirements and identify potential issues or exceptions promptly.
Maintain supporting documentation and working papers for regulatory reporting and examinations.
Liaise with CIRO and respond to inquiries relating to financial filings, capital calculations, and regulatory reviews.
Escalate material financial or capital matters to senior management in a timely manner.

Office & Administrative Management

Oversee day-to-day office administration and operations.
Coordinate office vendors, supplies, facilities, and service providers.
Support onboarding and offboarding processes and maintain employee records.
Assist with payroll administration and benefits coordination.
Support human resources and other administrative functions as required.
Help maintain an organized, professional, and efficient office environment.

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
CPA designation or progress toward CPA designation is preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience; experience in an investment dealer, brokerage, investment banking, or other regulated financial services environment is highly desirable.
Practical knowledge of CIRO regulatory requirements, including MFR preparation and RAC calculations, is strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and financial reporting principles.
Experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and year-end audit processes.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting and financial reporting systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict regulatory and reporting deadlines.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a small, professional environment.
High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential financial and employee information.
