About MAKE
MAKE Design Lab Inc. is a commercial interior design and project management studio working across the office, healthcare, and retail sectors. We’re known for disciplined project delivery: thorough documentation, rigorous contract administration, and projects that are built the way they were drawn.
The Role
We’re hiring an Intermediate or Senior Interior Designer / Technologist who takes ownership of their work, collaborates closely with the team, and wants a meaningful role in every phase of delivery, from programming and concept through construction documents and contract administration.
What You’ll Do
- Develop space plans, from programming and test fits through layout refinement
- Produce accurate construction drawings, details, and technical documentation in line with studio standards and local building codes
- Select and coordinate finishes, materials, and FF&E
- Coordinate with engineering and specialty consultants on building systems and integration
- Support contract administration: bid and shop drawing review, RFIs, site reviews, deficiency lists, and change orders
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while supporting other team members
What You Bring
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Architectural Technology, Architecture, or a related field
- [3–5 years (Intermediate) or 7+ years (Senior)] of commercial interiors experience, ideally in a Canadian studio
- Working knowledge of commercial construction, local building codes, and permitting
- AutoCAD proficiency required; SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office are assets
- Strong detailing, visual communication, and presentation skills, with keen attention to detail
What We Offer
- 3 weeks’ vacation from your first year
- Eligibility for our profit-sharing plan
- Group benefits following the probationary period
- Mobile phone allowance
- Direct involvement in every project phase. As a boutique studio, your work is visible and it matters.
