About Us

Malach Metal and Machining is a growing metal fabrication company operating across Canada and the United States, supporting OEM contract manufacturing and in-house product lines. We take pride in precision, craftsmanship, safety, quality, and teamwork. Our culture is hands-on, collaborative, and built around people who care about doing the job right, solving problems, and continuously improving how we work.

Our commitment to quality extends beyond the products we manufacture. It is reflected in our processes, relationships, accountability, and dedication to meeting customer expectations.

Your Impact

The Quality Manager plays a critical, hands-on leadership role in ensuring Malach's products, manufacturing processes, and quality systems consistently meet customer requirements, applicable standards, and organizational expectations.

Working directly with the Plant Manager, Production, Engineering, and shop-floor team members, this position combines practical quality oversight with leadership of Malach's Quality Management System (QMS).

You will be actively involved in manufacturing operations, conducting and supporting inspections, investigating quality concerns, resolving production challenges, and implementing improvements that prevent defects and strengthen manufacturing performance.

This is not solely a desk-based quality management position. We are looking for a leader who is comfortable working directly on the production floor, supporting team members, making sound technical decisions, and ensuring quality is built into our processes rather than inspected in at the end.

The Quality Manager will also lead quality system compliance, corrective actions, customer quality concerns, and continuous improvement initiatives while developing a culture of accountability, collaboration, and pride in workmanship.

Why This Opportunity Matters

This is an opportunity to have a meaningful influence on how quality is managed, measured, and continuously improved within a growing manufacturing organization.

You will have the ability to strengthen established processes, develop team capabilities, improve manufacturing performance, and help shape a proactive quality culture.

The position offers direct involvement in shop-floor operations, technical problem-solving, customer quality requirements, and the ongoing development of Malach's manufacturing systems.

Primary Areas Of Influence

  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Malach's Quality Management System in alignment with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
  • Ensure quality-related policies, procedures, work instructions, forms, and records are appropriately maintained and controlled.
  • Coordinate internal quality audits, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure findings are addressed effectively.
  • Support external certification, surveillance, and customer audits, including preparation, coordination, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Monitor QMS performance and provide meaningful quality information for management review.
  • Work with process owners to ensure responsibilities, controls, and required records are understood and consistently applied.
  • Support risk-based thinking and the identification of quality risks within manufacturing and supporting processes.
  • Promote a practical, effective QMS that supports operations rather than creating unnecessary administrative complexity.
  • Hands-On Shop Floor Quality Leadership:
  • Maintain an active presence on the manufacturing floor, working directly with supervisors, operators, and technical team members.
  • Conduct and support in-process, dimensional, first-article, and final inspections as required.

  • Investigate quality concerns at the point of manufacture and work collaboratively to determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Verify manufacturing processes and completed products against approved drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Support the identification, containment, and disposition of nonconforming products in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Coach production team members on quality expectations, inspection practices, and defect prevention.
  • Work with the Plant Manager to address recurring quality issues, improve process consistency, and reduce scrap and rework.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inspection methods, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing controls.
  • Exercise authority to stop or contain work where there is a significant product conformity concern, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Quality Assurance & Manufacturing Process Control:
  • Oversee quality assurance and quality control activities throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate inspection requirements, acceptance criteria, and quality verification methods.
  • Ensure incoming materials, work-in-progress, and finished products are inspected or verified in accordance with applicable requirements.

  • Promote consistent interpretation and application of drawings, specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements.
  • Nonconforming Product & Corrective Action Management:
  • Oversee the identification, documentation, containment, and disposition process for nonconforming materials and products.
  • Ensure suspected nonconforming product is appropriately identified and controlled to prevent unintended use or shipment.
  • Lead or facilitate investigations into internal defects, customer complaints, recurring quality issues, and process failures.
  • Apply structured root cause analysis methods such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Analysis, 8D, or other appropriate problem-solving techniques.
  • Coordinate corrective actions with the responsible process owners and ensure actions address the underlying cause.
  • Verify corrective action effectiveness and monitor for recurrence.
  • Identify recurring trends and work collaboratively with Operations and Engineering to implement sustainable improvements.
  • Escalate significant quality risks or unresolved concerns to leadership.
  • Customer Quality & Technical Requirements:
  • Serve as a key internal resource for customer quality expectations, product conformity, and technical quality concerns.
  • Review and support interpretation of customer specifications, quality requirements, drawings, and applicable standards.
  • Coordinate investigations and responses to customer quality complaints and product concerns.
  • Support preparation of customer corrective action reports, inspection documentation, and quality-related submissions.
  • Work with Sales, Customer Service, Engineering, and Production to ensure customer quality requirements are understood and communicated.

  • Quality Team Leadership & Development:
  • Provide direction, coaching, and technical support to Quality team members, including inspectors and quality technicians.
  • Establish clear expectations for inspection activities, documentation, escalation, and accountability.
  • Support training and competency development related to inspection methods, measurement equipment, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Work with HR and Operations to identify training needs and strengthen quality awareness across the organization.
  • Promote a respectful, collaborative environment where team members feel comfortable identifying and raising quality concerns.
  • Encourage ownership, problem-solving, and continuous learning within the Quality function.
  • Provide meaningful performance feedback and support ongoing team development.
  • Quality Performance, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
  • Develop, monitor, and communicate quality performance indicators that provide visibility into manufacturing and customer quality.
  • Track trends related to defects, scrap, rework, customer complaints, nonconformances, corrective actions, and other relevant quality measures.
  • Analyze quality data to identify recurring issues, process variation, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work with Operations and Engineering to prioritize improvements based on customer impact, risk, cost, and manufacturing performance.
  • Support initiatives to reduce the cost of poor quality and improve first-pass yield.
  • Establish clear ownership, timelines, and follow-up for quality improvement activities.
  • Communicate quality performance, emerging risks, and improvement progress to leadership.
  • Supplier Quality & Incoming Material Control:
  • Work with Purchasing and Receiving to establish and maintain appropriate incoming material quality requirements.
  • Support the evaluation and monitoring of supplier quality performance.
  • Investigate supplier-related nonconformances and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
  • Support supplier corrective action requests and verification of resolution where required.
  • Identify recurring supplier quality concerns and recommend improvements or additional controls.
  • Ensure material certification, traceability, and inspection documentation are maintained where required by customer or product specifications.
