Original job description

Manga Hotel Group is a Canadian company involved in the acquisition, development and management of high-quality residences and hotels affiliated with prestigious brands such as Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt and Intercontinental Hotels Group. Currently, Manga Hotels owns and operates 36 hotels with over 6800 rooms across Canada and in the United States, 18 food and beverage outlets and 5 residential properties with several new properties and developments in the pipeline.

As Manga Hotels continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced and highly organized Construction Site Supervisor to oversee an upcoming major hotel renovation project. In this role, you will be the primary on-site leader responsible for managing subcontractors, enforcing strict safety and quality standards, and maintaining a fast-paced construction schedule.

Because this project takes place within a hospitality environment, the ideal candidate must have a proven track record of managing multi-unit interior fit-outs, coordinating complex trade schedules, and maintaining a clean, professional site that minimizes disruption to hotel operations and guests.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • On-Site Leadership & Coordination: Manage day-to-day site operations, scheduling, and sequencing of all trade subcontractors (demolition, MEP, drywall, finishes, FF&E installation).
  • Schedule & Flow Management: Track daily progress against the master schedule, managing the repetitive "room-to-room" or "floor-by-floor" trade flow efficiently to prevent bottlenecks.
  • Quality Assurance & Brand Standards: Establish, enforce, and conduct rigorous, ongoing punch-list inspections to ensure all finishes meet the brand standards.
  • Logistics & Material Management: Coordinate the delivery, staging, and distribution of materials, fixtures, and furniture (FF&E) without disrupting hotel operations.
  • Operations Liaison: Work closely with Hotel Management and the Project Manager to coordinate scheduled utility shutdowns (water, power, HVAC) and enforce strict noise/dust control protocols.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce all local building codes, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety plans. Conduct daily toolbox talks and maintain necessary safety documentation.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed daily digital logs tracking trade headcounts, progress, weather, delays, and site photos. Generate RFIs (Requests for Information) when hidden site conditions are uncovered.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Site Supervisor or Assistant Superintendent, specifically focusing on hotel renovations, multi-family residential, or high-density commercial interiors.
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret architectural, MEP, and interior design blueprints. Proficiency with management software (e.g., Microsoft word/excel, Bluebeam, or similar digital daily log tools) is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial framing, drywall separation, fire-stopping systems, ADA/accessibility compliance, and high-end finish work.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, conflict-resolution, and leadership skills. A professional demeanor suited for interacting with hotel staff and upper management.
