Infinity Women Secretariat (IWS) is a non-profit organization that connects Red River Métis women, girls, 2SLGBTQ+ members throughout the Province of Manitoba and beyond, with a mandate to promote, empower, and enhance their well-being. Incorporated on April 23, 2013, IWS has become well known in our Red River Métis communities and remains a proud affiliate of the Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF), the National Government of the Red River Métis.
The IWS seeks to fill one full-time Capacity Development Officer position located at 150 Henry Avenue in Winnipeg, MB. The Capacity Development Officer is responsible for strengthening the organizational capacity of the Infinity Women Secretariat through strategic planning, governance development, organizational policy, and continuous improvement initiatives that support effective decision-making, accountability, organizational growth, and long-term sustainability.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Lead organizational strategic planning initiatives, including research, facilitation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation;
- Coordinate the development and monitoring of strategic plans, work plans, and performance measures;
- Conduct environmental scans, jurisdictional reviews, and research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities;
- Develop recommendations that strengthen organizational effectiveness and long-term sustainability;
- Lead the review, development, and maintenance of organizational governance frameworks;
- Coordinate updates to bylaws, governance and operational policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures;
- Ensure governance documents align with applicable legislation, the governing authorities and policies of the Manitoba Métis Federation, organizational priorities, and recognized governance best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Governance, Political Science, Community Development, Organizational Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe applications;
- Experience in research, analysis, report writing, policy development, and organizational planning;
- Experience developing and implementing strategies, frameworks, policies, or organizational initiatives;
- Experience with strategic planning, governance reviews, or organizational development initiatives is an asset;
- Experience with boards, committees, public sector, not-for-profit, or Indigenous organizations is an asset;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, writing, analytical, and time management skills;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, governance, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset;
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
