About Manning Elliott

At Manning Elliott, we believe great work starts with great people. As one of British Columbia’s largest independent regional accounting firms, we take pride in delivering exceptional accounting and advisory services while building lasting relationships with our clients and our team. We offer a collaborative, supportive environment where continuous learning, professional growth, and community involvement are part of everyday life.

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Associate, Valuations to join our M&A and Valuations group in Vancouver. This role is designed for a CPA with public company audit experience who is interested in applying their accounting, financial-reporting, and analytical skills to business valuation work.

You’ll contribute to valuation engagements for a range of purposes, which may include financial reporting, tax planning, transactions, succession planning, and other advisory matters. Prior valuation experience is welcome but not required - we’re open to someone with limited direct exposure who brings a strong technical foundation, intellectual curiosity, and an interest in developing specialized valuation expertise. Our valuation work includes financial reporting valuations, such as purchase price allocations and impairment testing, business and share valuations, and support to our audit teams.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with business valuation and financial-analysis engagements from initial information gathering through to completion.
  • Analyze historical financial statements, forecasts, business plans, agreements, and operational information to understand business performance and key value drivers.
  • Build and review financial models and valuation analyses using appropriate income, market, and asset-based approaches.
  • Support financial-reporting valuation assignments, such as purchase price allocations and impairment analyses, and help our audit teams review valuations prepared by management or third-party specialists.
  • Research comparable companies, market transactions, industries, and relevant economic factors to support valuation assumptions and conclusions.
  • Apply your public company audit and accounting experience to assess financial information, identify unusual items, challenge assumptions, and evaluate the quality and consistency of supporting data.
  • Prepare clear, well-supported working papers, valuation reports, presentations, and other client deliverables.
  • Work closely with clients and internal teams to obtain information, communicate findings, and resolve questions efficiently.
  • Coordinate assigned engagement responsibilities while balancing multiple priorities, reporting deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Manning Elliott’s Public Company, Private Company, Tax, and Advisory groups.
  • Use Excel and other analytical tools to improve financial modeling, data analysis, and engagement efficiency while maintaining strong professional judgment and quality control.
  • Contribute to team knowledge-sharing, process improvement, and the continued development of Manning Elliott’s growing M&A and Valuations practice.

What You Bring

  • Education:
    • A completed CPA designation.
    • A completed CBV designation, current enrollment in the CBV Program of Studies, or a clear commitment to begin and pursue the CBV designation.
  • Experience:
    • Approximately 2 to 4 years of relevant public company audit and assurance experience in public practice.
    • Strong experience analyzing financial statements and working with complex accounting estimates, forecasts, and supporting documentation.
    • Limited prior valuation exposure is acceptable; experience with fair value, impairment, purchase price allocation, business combinations, complex financial instruments, or other valuation-related audit areas is considered an asset.
    • Working knowledge of IFRS, including business combinations, impairment and fair value measurement, and Canadian Auditing Standards; exposure to U.S. GAAP or PCAOB engagements is considered an asset.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret detailed financial information.
    • Aptitude for financial modeling and an interest in learning valuation methodologies, databases, and analytical tools.
    • Technically savvy, curious, and comfortable learning new technology and improving existing processes.
    • Strong analytical thinking and a practical, methodical approach to problem-solving.
    • High attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, supportable, and well-documented work.
    • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively within engagement deadlines.
    • A collaborative, relationship-focused approach with clients, colleagues, and other service teams.
    • A commitment to continuous learning and building specialized valuation expertise.

Why Join Manning Elliott?

At Manning Elliott, you’ll find the best of both worlds: the opportunity to work on meaningful, complex engagements, along with the support, collaboration, and accessibility of a mid-sized firm.

  • Supportive Culture: Work with approachable colleagues and leaders who value collaboration, balance, and your success.
  • Professional Development: Continue building your skills through hands-on experience, mentorship, training, and opportunities for growth.
  • Community Impact: Get involved in community initiatives and firm-supported activities that make a positive difference.
  • Flexible Work Options: Benefit from flexibility within core working hours and hybrid work arrangements that support both personal and business needs.
  • Team Connection: Take part in team-building activities, social events, and wellness initiatives that help you feel connected.
