Website Transformation Digital Communications Specialist

Position Summary

We are seeking a strategic Digital Communications Specialist to lead the business and content transformation of our corporate website ecosystem. Rather than writing code or configuring infrastructure, this position will champion our communication priorities throughout a major platform migration to a headless Sitecore AI-enabled environment.

You will ensure the website architecture supports our complex external narratives, corporate reputation marketing and internal publishing workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Lifecycle Leadership: Provide business leadership throughout the full project lifecycle, from discovery and requirements definition through design, migration, testing, launch, and post-implementation adoption. Ensure communication priorities, stakeholder needs, and business objectives remain aligned throughout the transformation journey.
  • Functional Requirements & Translation: Translate high-level corporate communication priorities, campaign needs and PR requirements into clear user stories, functional specs and wireframe critiques for the agency dev team.
  • Vendor Management & Accountability: Serve as the primary business interface for the external agency. Ensure they deliver flexible, modular components that allow communication teams to build diverse layouts without needing a developer.
  • Internal CMS Experience (UX) Stewardship: Advocate for the internal content creator experience. Ensure the agency builds a clean, intuitive back-end authoring interface inside Sitecore, preventing workflow friction for our team.
  • Content Strategy & Migration Stewardship: Lead the assessment, rationalization, and migration of website content into the new SitecoreAI platform. Ensuring content structures, taxonomies, governance standards and publishing workflows support both user needs and business needs.
  • Business Testing & Quality Assurance: Coordinate user acceptance testing activities, validate business requirements and migrated content, and ensure solutions meet communication, usability, accessibility, and stakeholder expectations prior to launch.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the IT department to ensure alignment on security and compliance parameters, while ensuring that technical constraints do not unnecessarily compromise user experience or storytelling capabilities. Partner with diverse content owners to ensure their needs are understood, analyzed and aligned with the project objectives.
  • Change Management & Adoption: Design training paths to help your internal content owners smoothly transition to the new SitecoreAI and authoring toolsets.
  • Digital Findability & Search Optimization: Ensure the transformed website supports strong search visibility, content discoverability, and user findability. Partner with internal and external teams to incorporate SEO, site search, content structure, and emerging AI-search considerations into the overall digital experience strategy.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • Enterprise CMS Experience: Experience working with enterprise content management systems (i.e. Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager or similar solutions) from a business user or product owner perspective, including participation in website migration, modernization or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Technical Translation Skills: Proven ability to effectively collaborate with IT architects and agency developers without being a developer. Must be familiar with agile delivery methodologies including sprint planning, backlog management, user story development and user acceptance testing.
  • Corporate Know-how: Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a track record of handling competing priorities from diverse stakeholders and distilling them into a unified digital strategy.
  • Content Strategy & Architecture: Deep understanding of content hierarchy, complex corporate taxonomies, metadata strategy, content governance and user journeys, and how they influence brand perception and reputation management.
  • Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) and inclusive digital design practices.
  • SEO understanding, site search optimization and AI-search readiness principles.
  • Experience using digital analytics and insights to evaluate website performance, support decision-making, and identify opportunities for optimization.
