Join our Global Technology & Cyber Security team!

Technology investment is becoming increasingly complex as cloud, software, platforms, and AI change how organizations consume and manage technology. At Manulife, we're evolving how we connect technology investment to business value and strengthening the insights leaders use to make informed investment decisions.

We're looking for a Manager, Technology Business Management (TBM) & FinOps to help advance this transformation. In this role, you'll strengthen technology cost transparency, evolve our TBM practices, expand how we use Apptio, and enable FinOps capabilities across the enterprise.

Working across Technology, Finance, and business teams, you'll turn complex financial and operational data into meaningful insights that help leaders understand where technology investments are going, what drives consumption, and how we can make more informed decisions about cost, value, and investment.

Position Responsibilities:

Build Technology Cost Transparency

  • Develop technology cost insights across cloud, infrastructure, software, labour, vendors, AI, and enterprise technology services.
  • Connect technology spending to applications, products, platforms, services, and business outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain cost allocation methodologies, consumption models, service costing, and unit economics.
  • Improve the consistency, transparency, and reliability of financial and operational data used for technology decision-making.
  • Create executive reporting and actionable insights that support investment, planning, and prioritization decisions.

Advance TBM & Apptio

  • Advance Manulife's TBM practices by establishing scalable governance, cost models, and ways of working across Technology and Finance.
  • Serve as a business owner for Apptio capabilities, helping define and deliver a roadmap aligned with business and technology priorities.
  • Expand Apptio use cases across areas such as application Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), labour and vendor costs, cloud and AI cost management, business service costing, financial planning, and forecasting.
  • Improve the integration and automation of financial, operational, and consumption data.
  • Partner with Finance and Technology teams to strengthen planning, forecasting, allocation, showback, and chargeback practices.
  • Support business cases, investment analysis, and value-realization initiatives.

Enable FinOps

  • Partner with engineering, platform, and optimization teams to make technology cost insights actionable and relevant to their workflows.
  • Support cloud, AI, and platform FinOps initiatives through allocation models, forecasting, consumption analytics, and reporting.
  • Develop practical KPIs and scorecards that help technology teams understand and manage the financial impact of their decisions.
  • Enable optimization through trusted data and insights while partnering with teams accountable for executing savings and efficiency opportunities.

Influence Decisions & Adoption

  • Build strong partnerships across Technology, Finance, Procurement, Architecture, Platform Engineering, and business teams.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that improve technology cost transparency, planning, and financial decision-making.
  • Translate complex technology and financial data into clear insights and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Champion the practical adoption of TBM and FinOps principles across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in Technology Business Management, IT Finance, FinOps, Technology Planning, Technology Strategy, or a related discipline, typically gained through 7+ years of relevant work.
  • Experience implementing, operating, or maturing TBM, technology cost management, or FinOps capabilities in a complex organization.
  • Strong understanding of technology cost structures, allocation methodologies, consumption models, and financial management practices.
  • Experience working with Apptio or comparable technology cost-management platforms and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn complex financial and operational data into practical business insights.
  • Ability to communicate complex technology and financial concepts clearly to senior leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across Technology, Finance, and business functions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with Apptio Cost Transparency, Planning, Cloudability, or related capabilities.
  • TBM Council or FinOps Foundation certification, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience supporting cloud, AI, or enterprise technology cost-management initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, data management, integration, or automation tools.
  • Experience developing governance models or cross-functional operating practices.

Success in this role will be reflected in your ability to:

  • Increase transparency into enterprise technology costs and consumption.
  • Expand the adoption and value of Apptio capabilities.
  • Improve the accuracy and consistency of technology cost allocation and service costing.
  • Reduce manual reporting effort through improved automation and data integration.
  • Strengthen technology planning, forecasting, and financial decision-making.
  • Increase FinOps adoption across engineering and platform teams.
  • Build greater leadership confidence in technology cost data, reporting, and insights.
