About the Role

The Senior Azure Engineer (Azure Consultant) is a key technical role responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting modern cloud and hybrid IT platforms for our customers. This individual will combine strong technical expertise with a consultative approach, helping customers adopt and optimise Microsoft Azure solutions in line with their business objectives.

Working closely with customers, internal delivery teams, and pre-sales functions, the role involves translating requirements into secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. The successful candidate will lead technical discussions, contribute to solution design, and provide guidance to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

A strong focus on collaboration and continuous improvement is key. • Consulting: Run technical discovery workshops, navigate ambiguous legacy environments, and present complex architectures and cloud migration strategies to both technical teams and executive-level audiences. There is a requirement to travel to a customer site on a weekly or bi weekly basis
  • Automate by Default: Implement comprehensive infrastructure as code using Terraform or Azure Bicep. Automate the deployment and management of cloud environments, ensuring fault tolerance, redundancy, and disaster recovery are baked in from day one.
  • Platform Governance: Establish and uphold platform standards for IaC, CI/CD, security, observability, and reliability across various client engagements.
  • Pre-Sales & Scoping: Partner with account and pre-sales teams to support pre-sales activity, including technical scoping, effort estimation, and proposal shaping.
  • Migration & Optimisation: Lead cloud migration strategies (lift-and-shift, hybrid extensions, or refactoring) and continuously optimize Azure spend and resource utilisation.
  • Security & Compliance: Deploy Azure security best practices using services such as Azure Policy, Azure Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, and clearly defined RBAC controls.

Windows Server & Services Administration

  • Server Lifecycle Management: Oversee the provisioning, patching (via Azure Update Manager or WSUS), hardening, and troubleshooting of Windows Server environments (2019/2022/2025).
  • Hybrid Identity: Manage and optimise Active Directory Domain Services and ensure seamless synchronization with Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Core Network Services: Administer and maintain enterprise Windows networking services, including DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).

DevOps & Automation

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Champion the automation of infrastructure deployment using tools like Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Design, build, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions for seamless application and infrastructure deployment.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure: Experienced in configuring and hardening base operating systems (Windows Server and enterprise Linux distributions like RHEL or Ubuntu) within production settings, preferably utilising configuration tools like Ansible.
