Original job description

Bilingual Assistant, Donor Services for charitable organization client, downtown Toronto.

Marberg Job Number: 2897.

Job Type: Temporary.

Initial Term: October 1 2026 to January 31 2027.

Existing Vacancy: Yes.

Compensation: $23 per hour.

Regular Work Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, not including 1 hour unpaid lunch break, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week).

Work Location: Hybrid, combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client's downtown Toronto office, near TTC station. Wednesdays are anchor days. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business need.

Responsibilities Summary:

Support seasonal fundraising campaigns by assisting donors to navigate online donations site, and to receive and process donations via telephone, email, and online.

Receive telephone calls from donors and respond to basic inquiries, triaging escalations or more complex calls to designated members of donor services team.
Assist donors to navigate online donations site.
Receive, process and respond to email requests received via online donations site.
Process donor requests via email and regular mail.
Process physical and scanned mail from an online system.
Take donations via phone.
Triage any escalated or complex issues and calls to designated team members.
Additional clerical and customer service support responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

Education: Highschool Diploma or equivalent combination of work experience and education.

Preferred Work Experience: Exposure to a fundraising, helpdesk or contact centre setting, through work, volunteer or school placement experience.

Preferred Sector Experience: Experience with a not-for-profit, community services, charitable or volunteer association an asset.

Technical and Language Skills Requirements:

Strong data entry skills (will be tested).
General proficiency and familiarity with MS Word, Excel and Outlook, and online databases (will be tested).
Strong English written and reading comprehension skills including strong business writing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax (will be tested).
Strong English conversational skills suitable for a diverse range of audiences, and professional telephone manners.
Written and verbal fluency in French an asset (will complete a French fluency evaluation to be presented as bilingual).

Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively, and to manage volume targets and due dates.

Proven ability to professionally handle confidential information and exercise good judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy.
Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks.
Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively, and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request.
Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies.
Ability to declare personal Non-Conflict of Interest in execution of assignment responsibilities.
Provision of certification of AODA and OHSA online training course completion prior to assignment start.
Satisfactory Background Checks, Technical Skills Evaluations, Interpersonal Skills Assessment, and Employment References as required.
