Original job description

Marcon is seeking a hands-on Building Manager (Live-In) to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and presentation of our W42 residential community. Reporting to the Property Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring both properties remain safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for residents.

This role combines building maintenance, property inspections, vendor coordination, and common area up keep. You will be responsible for responding to maintenance requests, identifying deficiencies before they become larger issues, supporting contractors and service providers on-site, and helping maintain high standards of property appearance and operational readiness.

At W42, the role includes additional responsibility for routine inspections, site maintenance activities, and supporting the overall functionality and performance of the property. Success in this position requires strong practical maintenance skills, sound judgment, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to resident service.

About Us

Many people will spend their lives in a Marcon home. That's why we are committed to creating exceptional communities where people can live, work, and thrive. For decades, Marcon has been shaping the built environment across British Columbia through thoughtful development, quality construction, and long-term ownership of real estate assets. Our team is driven by a commitment to excellence, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement as we build communities that stand the test of time.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join a growing organization where you can make a visible impact on the resident experience and the long-term quality of Marcon's income-producing properties.

You will work independently while partnering closely with property management, vendors, contractors, and fellow facilities team members to ensure properties are maintained to a high standard. The role offers a diverse mix of maintenance, operational, and resident-focused responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in maintaining exceptional communities.

What You Bring

3–5 years of experience in building operations, facilities maintenance, property operations, or a related field
Practical experience performing minor repairs, inspections, janitorial support, and general property maintenance
Strong understanding of safe work practices and preventative maintenance principles
Ability to prioritize work effectively and respond to urgent maintenance issues
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently while coordinating with property management and service providers
Ability to lift up to 20 kg and safely move tools, materials, ladders, appliances, and related equipment
Availability to respond to after-hours or emergency maintenance situations as required
Experience with Yardi Maintenance IQ or similar maintenance management systems is considered an asset
Red Seal certification or a related trade qualification is considered an asset

Compensation

The annual salary for this position is $50,000 to $70,000, depending on experience and optional live-in status.

What We Offer

Marcon is committed to building an inclusive workplace where our people can grow and succeed. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive health and wellness benefits, professional development opportunities, and the chance to be part of a collaborative team that values accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. We believe our success is built on the strength of our people and are committed to creating an environment where everyone can do their best work.
