Analyze new and changing laws and regulations and assess their potential impact on the business.
Identify liability exposures and provide practical and creative solutions to manage and reduce risk.
Interact with outside counsel representing Marsh Management Consulting, as well as outside counsel representing adverse parties.
Conduct negotiations with external third parties, escalating unresolved legal issues to other members of the Legal Department as appropriate.
Provide business colleagues with practical legal advice and guidance while developing solutions that balance business and legal considerations.
Interpret and explain contract terms to internal business colleagues.
Assist with responding to requests for proposals from prospective clients.
Manage workflow effectively in a proactive and responsive manner while meeting deadlines and changing priorities.

What you need to have:

Qualification and licensing to practice law in accordance with applicable Canadian statutes, rules, and regulations.
A bachelor’s or university degree.
A law degree.
A minimum of 1 year of legal experience gained at a law firm or in a corporate legal department.

What makes you stand out:

The ability to work effectively under pressure and manage deadlines and changing priorities.
General fluency in business issues, with the ability to formulate legal solutions that reflect both client and Oliver Wyman business priorities.
The ability to meet the specific requirements to practice law in-house in Canada.
Experience with software licensing agreements and data privacy terms.
Experience providing legal advice and support to professional services, consulting, technology, or other complex business organizations.
Demonstrated ability to identify and manage contractual and business risks while supporting commercial objectives.
Experience working effectively with internal stakeholders, external parties, and outside counsel.
