Job Title: Operations Systems Specialist
Reports to: Ops Systems Manager
Department: Information Technology (IT)

Job Summary:

The Operations Systems Specialist is responsible for overseeing the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of restaurant-related I.T. systems across the restaurant brand. This role focuses on Point-of-sale, integrations, food cost systems, maintaining accurate menu pricing, updating recipes, and supporting the overall functionality of restaurant operating systems. This position will collaborate closely with marketing, culinary, finance, and operations teams to ensure that all digital and physical menu information aligns with strategic goals and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Menu Data Management

Update and manage menu pricing, product details, and descriptions in restaurant management systems for Mary Brown’s & Fat Bastard Burrito
Coordinate seasonal and promotional menu changes across all restaurant locations.
Ensure menu updates are accurately reflected in all customer-facing platforms, including POS systems, online ordering, and delivery apps.
Support the testing and implementation of the new restaurant and enterprise level systems.

Food Cost and Inventory Systems

Maintain and update food cost systems, ensuring accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting and ingredient pricing.
Monitor vendor prices and ingredient cost fluctuations; ensure updates are implemented consistently across the system.
Collaborate with the finance team to optimize food cost reporting and analysis.

Recipe Management and Standardization

Develop and maintain a centralized recipe database with accurate ingredient lists, quantities, and preparation instructions.
Partner with culinary teams to document new recipes and ensure consistency in food preparation standards.
Ensure that recipe updates are disseminated across all relevant platforms, including training materials for kitchen staff.

System Optimization and Support

Act as the subject matter expert on restaurant systems, including POS, inventory, menu management, and food cost systems.
Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot system issues, coordinate updates, and recommend improvements to streamline menu management processes.
Train restaurant managers and kitchen staff on system updates, menu management, and food cost reporting tools.

Compliance and Quality Assurance

Ensure all menu and recipe data comply with health, safety, and regulatory standards.
Conduct regular audits to verify accuracy in ingredient specifications, yields, allergen information, and nutritional data (if available)

Collaboration and Communication

Serve as the primary point of contact for menu and food cost data inquiries from cross-functional teams.
Coordinate with marketing to ensure menu updates align with promotional schedules.
Actively participate in cross-functional meetings to align menu management strategies with company objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or College diploma in business, IT, or related field, or equivalent related work experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in restaurant operations, menu management, or culinary cost control.
Proficiency in restaurant management software (e.g., POS systems, inventory management, menu pricing tools).
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze data related to food cost and menu performance.
Knowledge of food safety and regulatory compliance standards.
Exceptional organizational skills, detail-oriented, and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to train and support staff across locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

A high level of understanding of multiple POS systems
A high level of understanding of back of house office systems
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products including excel, word and PowerPoint

Key Competencies:

Attention to Detail: Ensures all menu data and recipes are accurate and complete, understanding the impact on brand consistency and food cost.
Analytical Thinking: Applies data insights to optimize menu performance and food cost strategies.
Communication: Able to effectively train and communicate updates to restaurant managers and kitchen staff.
Problem Solving: Identifies system inefficiencies and works proactively to improve menu management processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with culinary, finance, operations, and IT teams to achieve common goals.
Is a team-oriented person who can break down and communicate complex I.T related problems.
