POSITION SUMMARY
The AR Accountant at Masco Canada is responsible for managing key AR processes, including cash application, collections, and reconciliations. This role ensures timely cash application, supports accurate financial reporting, and helps resolve escalated customer issues. The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams to maintain healthy cash flow and customer relationships.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Investigate and resolve customer billing disputes in a timely and professional manner
- Ensure accurate and timely application of customer payments, including resolution of unapplied cash items, investigation, analysis, and processing of customer deductions and related discrepancies
- Ensure accurate and timely entering of customer credits
- Send customer credits out each morning
- Monitor the AR mailbox and respond to customer requests on a timely basis
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve escalated discrepancies
- Support monthly and quarterly financial reporting related to AR
- Work closely with internal teams (e.g., sales, finance) to address customer issues
- Recommend process improvements to enhance AR efficiency and accuracy
- Any other duties as assigned

- Comply with the company policies and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
- Report unsafe conditions as soon as possible
QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Additional certification in finance or accounting (e.g., CPA, CMA) is an asset
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or a similar accounting role
- Strong analytical skills to review and interpret account data
- Attention to detail to ensure billing and payments are accurate
- Advanced problem-solving abilities for resolving complex AR issues
- Effective communication and negotiation skills to manage customer interactions
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Collaborative mindset to work cross-functionally and support team goals
- Proactive and results-oriented, with a focus on improving cash flow and AR metrics
- Solid knowledge of accounts receivable practices and accounting principles
- Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel
