Title and Summary

Manager, Product ManagementOverview
Mastercard is seeking a strategic and innovative product leader to help shape the future of payments. This role will shape Mastercard’s acceptance strategy, identify and advance emerging payment innovations, expand acceptance capabilities and endpoints, and develop industry-leading best practices that help merchants and ecosystem partners deploy and scale new payment experiences.
The successful candidate will combine strong product management skills, payments expertise, strategic thinking, and ecosystem engagement to help Mastercard accelerate the next generation of acceptance solutions across physical commerce.
In this role, you will turn market signals, ecosystem needs, and emerging technologies into strategies, pilots, and scalable acceptance capabilities that guide Mastercard’s product, investment, and partnership priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Acceptance Strategy & Expansion
• Analyze acceptance coverage, ecosystem capabilities, merchant needs, technology trends, and market barriers to identify opportunities and define strategy for acceptance expansion and innovation.
• Identify and prioritize emerging or underpenetrated verticals where new acceptance technologies, operating models, or ecosystem partnerships can remove barriers to payment acceptance.
• Establish metrics and reporting frameworks that measure acceptance coverage, enabled endpoints, deployment readiness, partner adoption, and scalability of new acceptance models.
Acceptance Best Practices & Thought Leadership
• Create and maintain an acceptance best-practices framework covering acceptance architecture, merchant and partner enablement, integration and deployment patterns, POS and software-based acceptance models, and emerging payment technologies, in coordination with risk, security, and customer-experience subject-matter experts.
• Develop repeatable playbooks, decision frameworks, implementation guidance, and reference models that help internal teams and partners evaluate and deploy acceptance solutions.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to internal teams, partners, and customers on acceptance strategy and implementation decisions.
• Develop external perspectives and strategic points of view that strengthen Mastercard’s position as a leader in next-generation acceptance.
Ecosystem & Partner Engagement
• Partner with customer-facing teams and ecosystem stakeholders to identify acceptance barriers, unmet needs, emerging capabilities, and opportunities for innovation.
• Identify ecosystem capability and distribution gaps, and define partnership strategies that accelerate the development and scaling of new acceptance models.
• Translate merchant, partner, and ecosystem insights into acceptance strategy, innovation priorities, and product roadmap recommendations.
• Represent Mastercard at industry events, customer engagements, workshops, and strategic partner discussions.
Product Leadership
• Lead strategic acceptance and innovation initiatives from opportunity assessment through recommendation, validation, roadmap definition, and transition to execution or commercialization teams.
• Develop executive-ready presentations, business cases, strategic perspectives, and recommendations for leadership.
• Partner across regional and global teams to align strategy and execution.
• Apply clear prioritization criteria and data-driven decision making to evaluate strategic fit, customer value, feasibility, scalability, economics, and acceptance impact.
All About You
• Product management experience with card acceptance – merchant, acquire, PSPs
• Strong understanding of the acceptance ecosystem and architecture, including merchants, acquirers, payment facilitators, gateways, processors, ISVs, POS platforms, commerce platforms, and payment networks.
• Experience evaluating emerging payment technologies, commerce models, and their implications for acceptance strategy and product development.
• Experience developing or launching new acceptance solutions, pilots, proofs of concept, or ecosystem-enabled payment capabilities.
• Demonstrated ability to move ambiguous opportunities from market insight through validation, strategic recommendation, and roadmap development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business case development skills.
• Excellent communication and executive presentation abilities.
• Strategic thinker who connects the dots and simplifies complex ideas.
• Ability to simplify complex industry topics into actionable recommendations.
