Company Description Masters Best Friend Inc., founded in 1993 in Concord, Ontario, is a proudly Canadian company specializing in premium, 100% all-natural dog treats and chews. The company is dedicated to providing high-quality, safe products that support the health and enjoyment of pets.

Master’s Best Friend (MBF) is a private-equity-backed pet products company entering its next stage of growth, with significant investment in Oracle NetSuite, data, automation and AI.

We are looking for an ambitious Accounting Analyst interested in the intersection of accounting, technology and business insight. Working under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and following a proven implementation roadmap, you will help use NetSuite and ecommerce data to improve financial visibility across our retail and direct-to-consumer businesses.

This will be a fast-paced, hands-on role with a significant learning curve. In return, you will gain practical experience in Oracle NetSuite, ecommerce accounting, inventory reconciliation, process automation and AI-enabled finance workflows that extends beyond a traditional accounting role.

Position Summary

The Accounting Analyst will provide hands-on accounting and reconciliation support during the stabilization of Oracle NetSuite. The role will focus on reconciling ecommerce sales, inventory movements and cash settlements in NetSuite; investigating differences; and helping ensure transactions and inventory counts are completely and accurately recorded.

The analyst will work closely with Finance and Operations to validate source information, prepare required uploads and adjustments, reconcile results and maintain clear supporting documentation. The role will also support month-end close and other accounting activities based on experience and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sales and Ecommerce Support
  • Reconcile sales recorded in NetSuite to Shopify, Amazon and other ecommerce platforms.
  • Reconcile ecommerce cash settlements, refunds, platform fees, adjustments and clearing accounts.
  • Investigate differences between source platforms, expected settlements, bank deposits and NetSuite.
  • Prepare required sales uploads or adjustments and verify that transactions are completely and accurately recorded.
  • Maintain clear reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation.
  1. Inventory Reconciliation
  • Reconcile inventory movements, transfers and adjustments in NetSuite.
  • Work with Operations to validate inventory counts and ensure counts and adjustments are completely and accurately recorded.
  • Investigate differences between physical or operational information and NetSuite inventory records.
  • Prepare interim inventory uploads and reconcile the resulting NetSuite transactions.
  • Support cycle counts and other inventory validation activities as required.
  1. Accounting and Month-End Support
  • Support month-end close, journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assist with sales, inventory, clearing accounts and cash reconciliations.
  • Prepare clear supporting schedules for management review and audit support.
  • Escalate unusual, or recurring differences to the appropriate Finance or Operations or Procurement owner.
  1. Process Documentation and Improvement
  • Document recurring reconciliation procedures, source data and required approvals.
  • Identify recurring discrepancies and manual steps; document compensating controls
  • Work with Finance and Operations to improve the accuracy, completeness and efficiency of reconciliations.
  • Participate in testing and validate results as ecommerce processes transition to Celigo-enabled automation.
  • Use available data, automation and AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve analysis and workflow efficiency.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • University or college education in accounting, finance, business, analytics, data or a related discipline; students enrolled in a relevant co-op program may also be considered.
  • For an experienced hire, progressive accounting or financial analysis experience with strong reconciliation skills is preferred.
  • For a co-op candidate, relevant coursework, strong academic performance and demonstrated interest in accounting, data and systems are important.
  • Experience with an inventory-based, retail, consumer products or ecommerce business is an asset.

Skills and Attributes

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to complete and accurate work.
  • Ability to investigate differences, organize data and follow issues through to resolution.
  • Strong Excel and general data-analysis skills.
  • Interest in Oracle NetSuite, ecommerce platforms, automation and AI-enabled finance workflows.
  • Clear communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively with Finance and Operations.
  • Ability to work hard, learn quickly and manage priorities in a fast-paced implementation environment.
  • Hands-on Oracle NetSuite, Shopify, Amazon, Celigo or inventory reconciliation experience is an asset but not required for a co-op candidate.

Measures of Success

  • Ecommerce sales, cash settlements and clearing accounts are reconciled accurately and on schedule.
  • Inventory counts, movements and adjustments are completely and accurately reflected in NetSuite.
  • Differences are investigated, documented and resolved or appropriately escalated.
  • Reconciliation schedules and supporting documentation are clear, complete and repeatable.
  • Finance and Operations spend less time correcting recurring sales and inventory discrepancies.
  • The analyst develops strong working knowledge of NetSuite and the company’s retail and ecommerce transaction flows.
