Original job description

MatchBox Consulting Group is currently seeking a Data Analyst for a 12 month contract role at a client of ours located in Edmonton

Responsibilities

Maintain the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of asset-related data across enterprise systems through data entry, validation, updating,reconciliation, and ongoing quality monitoring.
Identify, investigate, and resolve data discrepancies, gaps, and inconsistencies by collaborating with operations, engineering, field personnel, and other businessstakeholders.
Perform data stewardship activities to ensure compliance with established data standards, business rules, and governance requirements.
Support data governance initiatives by documenting data definitions, business processes, workflows, metadata, and data quality procedures.
Develop, monitor, and report on key data quality metrics and performance indicators to support continuous improvement and informed decision-making.
Maintain and update data reference libraries, asset hierarchies, standards documentation, and related governance artifacts.
Prepare, validate, and provide data sets and supporting documentation for audits, regulatory reporting, compliance activities, and business reporting requirements.
Analyze existing data management processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and data reliability.
Identify opportunities for workflow optimization and automation, leveraging appropriate tools and technologies to streamline data collection, maintenance, and reporting activities.
Develop user guides, training materials, and documentation to promote consistent data management practices and improve user adoption of standards and processes.
Provide guidance, coaching, and support to system users and business stakeholders regarding data standards, data quality expectations, and asset information management practices.
Collaborate with reporting and analytics teams to ensure underlying data structures, hierarchies, and datasets support business intelligence, reporting, and strategic planning requirements.
Participate in system enhancements, testing activities, and process improvement initiatives related to asset information and data management.
Support cross-functional projects and initiatives requiring data analysis, data validation, and asset information expertise.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

Well-organized, fast learner and able to be flexible in delivery method as conditions warrant;
Knowledge of transmission and distribution asset construction means and methods;
Strong safety focus and the ability to lead by example to set the tone and direction for health and safety focus on projects;
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
Strong customer service focus;
Demonstrated initiative, creativity and integrity;
Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook. Microsoft Power BI and
PowerPoint;
Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve;
Good judgment and reasoning skills; and
Ability to work with limited direction and to function as a key team member.
