Senior Project Engineer

Matchtech is supporting a key client with the requisition of a Project Engineer for a contract opportunity. Reporting to the Team Lead, Project Engineering, the role will provide technical leadership and oversee engineering deliverables from feasibility and conceptual design through to project execution and closeout. Projects will cover distribution, substations, transmission and network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with internal and external customers and technical specialists to define project scopes, technical deliverables, interdependencies and risks
- Plan and produce detailed designs for new construction, additions, modifications, maintenance and changes to distribution and transmission infrastructure
- Prepare feasibility assessments, design scopes of work, calculations, technical analyses, design reviews and construction support documentation
- Establish engineering schedules, inspection and test plans, and coordinate inspection points during construction
- Act as the main engineering contact for external consultants, overseeing the scope, quality and timely delivery of their work
- Coordinate design reviews between consultants, engineering teams and field execution planning teams
- Review construction requests for information and provide responses through Field Instructions or direct on-site support
- Ensure technical closeout, record documentation and project information management requirements are completed effectively
Job Requirements:
- Experience in project engineering within the utilities, electrical infrastructure or energy sector
- Strong understanding of distribution, substation, transmission or network projects
- Knowledge of engineering design, calculations, analysis and technical documentation
- Understanding of applicable engineering standards, industry codes, regulations and public safety requirements
- Experience coordinating consultants, contractors, design reviews and construction support activities
- Ability to identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, scope changes and project challenges
- Strong communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
- Commitment to maintaining the safety of colleagues, contractors and the public
