We are looking for someone who genuinely loves working with children, brings positive energy into the room, and is interested in growing into a leadership role within our centre.

This position combines teaching with centre operations, administration, planning and marketing. For the right person, there is an opportunity to develop into an Assistant Centre Director or Centre Director as our centre grows.

Availability

Candidates are expected to work:

  • 4 weekdays per week
  • 1 weekend day per week (Saturday or Sunday)

As an after-school learning centre, student-facing hours are primarily afternoons, evenings and weekends. Remaining full-time hours include administration, planning, training, marketing and centre operations.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Students

  • Teach math to students in Grades 1–8 or Grades 1–12 using the Mathnasium Method®.
  • Create a fun, encouraging and positive learning environment.
  • Build relationships with students and motivate them to learn.
  • Adapt your approach to different ages, personalities and learning needs.
  • Learn and apply the Mathnasium Method® and our instructional systems.
  • Communicate professionally with students and parents.

All teaching materials and student learning plans are provided. Training is provided.

Centre Operations & Growth

  • Support the Executive Director and Centre Director with administrative and operational work.
  • Assist with scheduling, curriculum preparation and centre organization.
  • Help plan student activities, events and initiatives in advance.
  • Support local marketing, promotions and community outreach.
  • Contribute ideas to improve the student and parent experience.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized and welcoming centre.
  • Take on increasing leadership and operational responsibilities as you develop in the role.

What We're Looking For

Personality is extremely important to us.

Math skills can be tested and our teaching method can be learned. We are looking for someone who naturally enjoys working with children and can make learning fun.

You should be energetic, caring, confident and encouraging. You should be comfortable celebrating a student's success, making a child laugh, recognizing when someone is losing confidence, and helping them enjoy coming to Mathnasium.

Required Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and French.
  • Strong math skills. We test your math as part of the hiring process.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Professional and confident when interacting with parents.
  • Reliable, responsible and comfortable taking ownership of tasks.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Willing to learn a different way of thinking about and teaching math.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with children or youth.
  • Tutoring, education, camp, childcare or recreation experience.
  • Ability to engage preschool/younger elementary students or confidently teach Grades 9–12 math.
  • Leadership, administrative or customer service experience.
  • Marketing, social media, community outreach or event planning experience.
  • Interest in developing into a management role.

Career Growth

This is not simply a full-time tutoring position.

We are looking for someone who can gradually take greater responsibility for students, instructors, parents and centre operations.

There is potential to progress through:

Instructor → Lead Instructor → Assistant Centre Director → Centre Director

If you enjoy working with children, love math and want the opportunity to grow with a developing education business, we'd like to hear from you.

Please apply with your resume.

Who We Are

Mathnasium Learning Centres teach children math so they understand it, master it and love it. Our curriculum is built around the Mathnasium Method™, developed through decades of hands-on instruction.

Mathnasium locations are independently owned and operated by franchisees of Mathnasium Centre Licensing, LLC. Each franchisee is solely responsible for employment matters at their Centre. If hired, the franchisee will be your employer, not Mathnasium.
