The Role

The Events Marketing Manager leads the strategy, planning and execution of internal and external events across MCAP’s brands and lines of business. The role also leads and develops one Event Marketing Coordinator.

Event Strategy and Portfolio Management

  • Develop and manage an annual event strategy and calendar aligned with business and marketing priorities across MCAP’s brands and lines of business.
  • Partner with business leaders and Marketing stakeholders to define event objectives, target audiences, experience strategies, budgets and success measures.
  • Prioritize the event portfolio and recommend opportunities, investments and improvements based on business value, audience needs and available resources.
  • Establish event plans, governance, timelines and contingency approaches to support consistent, high-quality delivery.

End-to-End Event Planning and Execution

  • Lead internal and external corporate events, including conferences, sponsorships, speaking engagements, customer events, golf tournaments, town halls and employee events.
  • Oversee events from concept through execution, including event intake, scope, project plans, timelines, budgets, venues, contracts, attendee management, speakers, production and on-site logistics.
  • Develop and present event proposals, recommendations, venue options and briefing materials to senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Content and Design to ensure event experiences and materials are accurate, accessible, on-brand and aligned with campaign objectives.
  • Direct event suppliers, temporary staff and volunteers, and act as the day-to-day contact for external event-management partners.
  • Manage event-related risks, privacy requirements, accessibility considerations and contingency plans in accordance with MCAP policies and applicable requirements.
  • Oversee post-event activities, including thank-you communications, feedback collection, invoice processing, budget reconciliation and final reporting.

Event Marketing, Communications and Measurement

  • Lead event marketing campaigns across relevant channels, including invitations, registration, landing pages, reminders, surveys and post-event thank-you communications.
  • Partner with Marketing Automation to develop and oversee event journeys in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and related platforms.
  • Ensure event communications are accurate, clear, consistent, appropriately branded and compliant with applicable consent, privacy and accessibility requirements.
  • Track registration, attendance, engagement, satisfaction, leads and other relevant outcomes; translate results into post-event reporting and actionable recommendations.
  • Use event insights and stakeholder feedback to improve processes, technology, attendee experiences and future investment decisions.

Budget, Procurement and Vendor Management

  • Develop, forecast and manage event budgets, monitor commitments and actuals, identify efficiencies and contribute to annual budget planning.
  • Research, evaluate and recommend venues and suppliers within approved budgets and in accordance with MCAP’s procurement, vendor and contract requirements.
  • Lead vendor negotiations, maintain accurate contracts and vendor records, and monitor supplier performance, service levels and deliverables.
  • Ensure accurate and timely budget tracking, invoice processing, reconciliation and financial reporting, working with the Marketing Administrator and Finance as appropriate.

Process and Operational Excellence

  • Maintain accurate event documentation, project plans, contracts, budgets, vendor records and standard operating procedures.
  • Promote consistent use of event intake, planning, approval and reporting processes across brands and lines of business.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve workflows, tools, governance and cross-functional collaboration.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach and develop one Event Marketing Coordinator, setting clear priorities, expectations and performance objectives.
  • Delegate event deliverables and provide oversight to ensure quality, timeliness and accountability.
  • Provide regular feedback, mentoring and development opportunities that build the coordinator’s capabilities and support career growth.
  • Foster a collaborative, service-oriented team environment focused on planning discipline, continuous improvement and successful delivery.

What You Bring To The Team

  • 5-7 years of progressive event marketing or event management experience, including complex corporate, customer or industry events.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent events, budgets, contracts, vendors and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience leading or mentoring employees, coordinators, vendors or event teams.
  • Financial-services or other regulated-industry experience is an asset.
  • Strong event strategy, project-management, negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver under changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Ability to influence, advise and present recommendations to senior stakeholders and a wide range of internal and external partners.
  • Sound judgment when handling confidential information, risk, competing priorities and time-sensitive decisions.
  • Experience with event registration platforms, CRM and marketing automation tools; Salesforce Marketing Cloud experience is an asset.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, including PowerPoint, Excel and Teams, as well as project-management tools.
