The Opportunity

McElhanney is currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks to support our fast-paced Finance & Accounting (F&A) department. This position is a full-time 6 months contract commencing November 2026 until April 2027 to back up our Accounts Payable team while they are working on our new ERP system implementation. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of key accounting concepts. This position will report directly to the Finance Operations Manager.

What You’ll Be Doing

Ensure compliance of corporate policy and procedures and accounting standards when processing Vendor and corporate card accounts payables submissions, and employee expense reports.
Process payment runs.
Prepare entries for fixed asset capitalization and depreciation, intangible assets capitalization and amortization, prepayment amortization and other adjustment journal entries.
Attend to vendor and internal clients’ inquiries in a professional manner.
Maintain audit and tax schedules to assist in yearend audit and tax filings.
Other responsibilities as required.

What You’ll Bring

3-5 years’ experience in Accounts Payable.
Post-secondary training in accounting or finance is an asset.
Experience in paperless Accounts Payable process is preferred.
Experience in going through accounting process change.
Intermediate skill in Excel.
Good customer and communication skills – written and verbal.Excellent time management skills and attention to detail is a must.
Good organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills.
An analytical mind, good number sense and the ability to learn new accounting software quickly (Dynamics SL, SAP Concur)
Ability to work independently and take initiative, and to function effectively without continuous direction.

The wage range for this position is $24 - $31 per hour. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting.
