Original job description

MSL is a Montreal-based, multi-entity organization with divisions including CWP Energy (physical power trading), GSL Grain, CWP Wood and MSL Climate Solutions. We are about 170 people and growing fast, and we run on speed, ownership and a strong team culture.

The Role

You will be part of our in-house IT team, working alongside our Senior IT Lead on day-to-day support requests and employee onboarding. You will also own facilities, from repairs and maintenance to furniture, equipment and supply orders.

This is a growth role. You will learn our systems quickly, build real ownership of both areas and have room to grow into a broader IT or workplace operations position.

What You'll Do

IT Support (about 70%)

  • Work IT support requests: troubleshoot and resolve tickets, and escalate to the Senior IT Lead when needed
  • Work with our outsourced helpdesk provider and follow up on open tickets until they are closed
  • Handle password resets, MFA enrolment and account unlocks in Microsoft 365
  • Provide deskside support for laptops, peripherals, printers, mobile devices, meeting rooms and AV equipment
  • Run employee onboarding and offboarding: set up laptops, accounts and access, welcome new hires on day one and recover equipment at departure
  • Write and maintain simple documentation and how-to guides for staff
  • Support the Senior IT Lead on projects and rollouts

Facilities and Office Operations (about 30%)

  • Be the main contact for repairs, building management and workplace-related requests
  • Order and set up furniture, equipment and office supplies
  • Schedule and follow up on maintenance and service contracts (cleaning, HVAC, etc.)
  • Manage cafeteria and other recurring supply orders
  • Coordinate desk setups, office moves and space changes
  • Look after health and safety basics: first-aid kits, emergency contacts and fire-drill coordination
  • Keep a simple record of vendors, orders and costs

What You Bring

  • DEC in IT, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 to 3 years in helpdesk, IT support or office operations (internships and co-op count)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration (users, licences, MFA) and Windows
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting skills
  • Bilingual: strong French and English, written and spoken
  • Experience with ticketing tools or ITIL practices (assets)
  • CompTIA A+ or Microsoft certifications (MS-900, MD-102) (assets)
  • Experience in office, facilities or vendor coordination (assets)
  • Service-minded and patient with non-technical users
  • Organized and reliable, comfortable juggling interruptions
  • Takes initiative and follows through without being chased

What We Offer

  • A stimulating, dynamic and collaborative work environment. Curious to learn more? McGill St Laurent
  • The opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial culture that encourages initiative
  • Comprehensive group insurance and the option to contribute to an RRSP program
  • Paid vacation from day one
  • A public transit incentive program
  • A Give & Match program
  • A beautiful office with a gym, a lounge, locker rooms and showers

This position requires in-office presence. We have found that being physically present fosters interactions that positively impact performance. As such, we strongly encourage employees to maintain this presence to fully benefit from the environment.
