Build Your Career Where It Matters.

For over 45 years, McGovern Hurley has been a leading mid-sized CPA firm, delivering tailored audit and assurance, tax advisory, reporting and compliance, and consulting services to publicly listed entities, private companies, and owner-managed businesses – locally, nationally, and globally.

Registered with Canadian Public Accountability Board (CPAB) and Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO), we uphold the highest standards of quality, accountability, and technical excellence. We’re proud to rank among Canada’s top 9 and Ontario’s top 6 firms serving publicly listed entities.

Driven by integrity, curiosity, and collaboration, we empower our people to take ownership, accelerate their growth, and make a meaningful impact from day one.

Note: We operate in a hybrid model, with two in-office days per week at our North York office. Wednesdays serve as our Anchor Day for the Audit Assurance Group (AAG), creating dedicated time to collaborate, connect, and learn together.

About You

You are a CPA-designated audit professional with 4–6 years of public accounting experience, ready to lead complex, end-to-end audit engagements across a diverse client portfolio. You deliver high-quality assurance services, manage complex issues, and ensure excellence from planning through completion. Known for your leadership and client-focused approach, you collaborate closely with Partners on risk-based strategies, build trusted client relationships, and deliver clear, insightful reporting. You are also passionate about developing others - coaching junior team members.

Your Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end audit engagements across a diverse public company client portfolio, including financial statements, disclosures, and other key deliverables.
Deliver high-quality work and exceptional client service by proactively anticipating client needs and escalating issues when necessary.
Collaborate with Engagement Partners to develop and execute a risk-based engagement approach and plan.
Prepare key audit deliverables, such as board communications, deficiency letters, and management letters, using clear, insightful analysis of financial statements.
Review workpapers, financial statements, and reports prepared by junior staff, ensuring audit quality, productivity, and adherence to budgets and timelines.
Lead, mentor, and develop audit teams and junior auditors as part of McGovern Hurley’s Coaching Program, providing guidance, feedback, learning, and growth.
Stay abreast of evolving accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices, driving technical excellence and compliance.
Drive McGovern Hurley’s growth through strong client relationship management and active participation in business development initiatives.

What You Bring

Proven experience leading audit engagements from planning to completion, delivering high-quality audit and assurance services across a diverse client portfolio.
Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Canadian Auditing Standards (CAS), with experience applying them across complex engagements.
Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring, coaching, and growing collaborative, high-performing teams.
Excellent organization and execution skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and client expectations with confidence.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, Partners, and cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word, along with experience using audit technologies and digital tools.
Demonstrated alignment with McGovern Hurley’s values of collaboration, respect, accountability, integrity, and quality.
