Position Summary:

The Lead, Enterprise IT VMO supports McKesson's managed services and strategic technology supplier contract ecosystem. This role executes and matures vendor governance and accountability across managed services providers (MSPs) and strategic vendors, and is responsible for supplier performance, commercial and contract management, risk management, financial management, compliance, relationship management, and service optimization.

The Lead translates vendor capabilities into tangible improvements in service delivery, operational stability, and cost effectiveness. Operating as a key steward of strategic supplier relationships, this role drives continuous improvement and operational excellence across McKesson Technology (MT).

This role is a critical contributor to McKesson's VMO transformation. The Lead will support the design, build, and maturation of enterprise-wide frameworks, executing the shift of the VMO from an administrative unit to a strategic engine for operational resilience and excellence - with an internal client-focused mindset.

We are looking for a builder and executor. The successful candidate brings hands-on experience to both analyzing a vendor's rate card and presenting performance insights to senior leadership. You are low-ego, collaborative, and willing to do the heavy lifting required to help establish a best-in-class VMO.

What You'll Do

Vendor Management & Governance

Execute and support enterprise-wide vendor management and governance frameworks for MSPs and strategic technology suppliers, including performance management, compliance, risk mitigation, and contract adherence.

Manage key supplier relationships, serving as a primary point of contact for supplier performance, issue escalation, and day-to-day engagement.

Support post-contract commercial management activities including cost optimization, value realization, vendor negotiations, performance management, and portfolio rationalization.

Ensure adherence to McKesson vendor management policies, standards, and regulatory requirements across all managed services and supplier engagements.

Manage the Contractual Change Control process, ensuring all Change Notices are commercially validated, competitively priced, and aligned with the Master Service Agreement.

Conduct forensic audits of vendor invoices against contractual rate cards, terms, and resource baseline models (RU/ARU) to identify overbilling, volume variances, and value-for-money gaps.

Support the end-to-end enterprise governance framework, including contractual governance meetings/committees and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for strategic technology partners.

Drive rigor in the post-governance cycle by ensuring all actions, issues, innovation commitments, and escalations are tracked to resolution, holding both internal stakeholders and vendors accountable.

Service Performance & Operational Excellence

Support an enterprise approach to service performance by tracking metrics, governance activities, and performance insights that improve stability, delivery quality, and customer outcomes.

Lead performance analysis, gap assessments, and opportunity identification across critical MT processes; support change implementation to strengthen scalability and resilience.

Support the maturation of the enterprise Service Delivery Model, collaborating with Service Delivery Managers to ensure consistent execution and accountability.

Champion a culture of continuous improvement, operational rigor, and performance transparency across the team and with vendor partners.

Platform & Process Governance

Support the ongoing development and evolution of tools and platforms that govern McKesson's MSP and supplier relationships, ensuring alignment with enterprise governance and performance objectives.

Contribute to governance of MT ITSM and non-ITSM processes, ensuring integration with service delivery, vendor performance, and organizational priorities.

Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align processes, data, and tools that enable end-to-end service visibility and informed decision-making.

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

Build credibility with Senior Director-level and VP-level stakeholders by providing data-driven insights on supplier performance, service quality, and operational risk.

Monitor vendor landscape and market trends to support technology strategy recommendations that drive enterprise value.

Ensure alignment of team goals and operating plans with McKesson's business strategy and enterprise priorities.

Partner closely with the Sourcing & Procurement (S&P) organization to support seamless transitions from contract execution to steady-state operational management.

Serve as an operational feedback loop for S&P, providing insights on vendor performance, service quality, and contractual pain points to inform future renewals and category strategies.

Scope & Impact

Operational accountability for strategic supplier performance, commercial terms, managed services delivery, and service governance across McKesson Technology.

Financial stewardship of vendor portfolio costs, service performance tracking, and cost optimization initiatives.

Leadership of cross-functional workstreams requiring strong influencing, coordination, and analytical skills.

Direct leadership of a team with impact spanning enterprise operations and internal client outcomes.

Basic Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree preferred.

8+ years of experience in IT Vendor Management, Commercial Management, Contract Management, Procurement, or Service Delivery, with at least 3 years specifically focused on vendor governance or a multi-vendor ecosystem in a complex, regulated industry.

5+ years of experience managing and building high-performing teams in a matrixed environment.

Strong functional understanding of the IT vendor contract ecosystem, including the interdependencies between Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), commercial terms, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), with the ability to translate contractual terms into operational execution.

Experience supporting or implementing VMO governance frameworks, risk registers, and reporting cycles.

Demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis, including invoice-to-contract reconciliation, consumption-based model review, and rate card benchmarking.

Preferred Skills/Experience

Solid expertise in managed IT services, strategic vendor management, MSP governance, and service performance management.

Experience supporting large-scale service delivery models and enterprise operating frameworks.

Strong financial, commercial, and contract management acumen.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to enterprise transformation initiatives and drive operational excellence.

Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills across a matrixed organization.

Experience partnering with Global Sourcing or Procurement organizations, with a track record of driving shared value and commercial transparency.

Ability to align technical SLAs with actual business outcomes and translate findings for senior stakeholders.

Track record of delivering value beyond cost-cutting - including improving delivery speed and reducing operational spend through enhanced vendor collaboration.

Ability to communicate complex contractual or operational risks to Director and VP-level stakeholders in business terms.
