Role

The AIT Manager oversees the assembly, integration and testing of a product or a program to meet the expectations of both customers and the company. A broader objective of this role is to support the company’s growth by undertaking tasks that may not have a direct impact on program management (for example, liaising with senior management and line managers on operational issues identified within the program).

Responsibilities:

Acts as an ambassador for their unit and, in this capacity, actively communicates with internal stakeholders to plan and execute manufacturing and production activities on their production lines.
Reviews requests from the departments responsible for program management, product development and production line management. Subsequently applies and organizes the necessary resources to manage the AIT (assembly, integration and testing) phase of a product as a whole.
Must be able to provide feedback to program managers with whom he or she will work closely and who have direct relationships with external clients, whether regarding products, resources, funding or methods.
Prepares detailed schedules to track the daily progress of products, carries out frequent and regular assessments of costs to date and estimates to completion, and develops alternative plans where necessary to meet cost and schedule targets.
Identifies key issues and opportunities for improvement within their unit and suggests solutions.
Attends product and design kick-off meetings and ensures that production line specifications are met. In other words, the manager must ensure that proposed designs are compatible with existing equipment wherever possible.
Acts as a consultant, providing technical advice and guidance.
Must be able to make decisions and, where necessary, take a stance based on evidence, in the best interests of the organization.
Ensures the visibility of the AIT at management level through regular meetings dedicated to reviewing technical aspects, management, and project progress, and provides a project dashboard.

Unit-specific:

Continuous improvement of the new high-volume integration line, where possible.
Must define the parameters and implementation sequence for their line.
Carries out occasional follow-ups with suppliers and oversees the commissioning of new equipment.
Develops qualification plans for product lines.

Develops, when necessary, a production readiness plan for the lines and ensures that information regarding equipment, workstations, and resources is kept up to date.
Works on programs that are in the submission or proposal phase. These programs focus on satellite design. The manager must therefore have a thorough understanding of their field, its limitations and the capabilities of their teams in order to make a realistic and technical contribution.

Professional experience:

Degree in aerospace, mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering; bachelor’s degree or higher
7 years of experience in program/project management or project engineering in a related technical field

Experience in the development and production launch of complex, high-volume products, along with an understanding of the challenges related to manufacturing readiness, capacity, production flow, automation, integration, and testing, is a plus.

7 years of experience in assembly, integration or testing
Experience in negotiations, risk management, contract management, subcontract management, finance and US ITAR regulations.
Good interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

#IND1 #SP

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).

We’re a dream team of purpose-driven, collaborative and passionate people, and we are constantly looking for others to join #TeamMDA to ignite new and innovative approaches to problem-solving that push us forward to improve life on and above Earth. If you’re excited to expand our place in space and driven to inspire the next generation, we’ll take you there.

We have entered a new era of exploration and development, and MDA welcomes all who yearn to suit up and be part of it. An equal opportunity employer prizing diversity, integrity and collaboration, we are committed to growing MDA’s and Canada’s leadership in this next golden age.

MDA provides competitive compensation and benefits packages for its employees at all locations. As a team member of MDA, you and your qualified dependents are eligible to participate in a benefit plan that ensures a comprehensive level of protection through competitive health care including; extended healthcare and flexible drug plans, dental and vision benefits, disability income protection, life insurance, group retirement savings plans; and an employee and family assistance program.

MDA is proud to provide accommodation(s) during the recruitment process. Should you require any accommodations, please indicate this on your application/cover letter and we will work with you to meet your accessibility needs.
