Original job description

MDSearch is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Pediatrician to join a well-established community pediatric clinic in Calgary, Alberta. This busy referral-based practice provides comprehensive pediatric care in a supportive, collegial environment with a strong reputation among referring physicians and families. Physicians benefit from an established referral network, flexible scheduling, dedicated administrative support, and the autonomy to build a practice that aligns with their professional interests. While the clinic primarily focuses on referral-based pediatrics, there is also flexibility for physicians interested in providing pediatric primary care.

Schedule:

Flexible scheduling available from 1 day per week to full-time (5 days per week). Physicians may also schedule around hospital commitments and other clinical responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • FRCPC certification in Pediatrics
  • Eligible for or currently holding licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based pediatric care
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Interest in community-based pediatric practice

Compensation:

Fee-for-service, transparent and simple. You bill your own FFS; overhead is a fixed $600/day (in line with Calgary pediatric clinics), charged only on days worked and reduced for your first few months while you build your panel. Most pediatricians here bill roughly $8,000 gross per week on a four-day schedule - gross billings before overhead and tax; actual earnings vary with patient mix, hours, and administrative time, and provincial fees are currently under renewal. With the waitlist, a general pediatrician’s schedule fills quickly.

Support & Resources

  • Dedicated Medical Office Assistants
  • Office Manager and Triage Clerk support
  • Experienced administrative team handling scheduling, patient intake, rooming, and coordination
  • Secure patient communication systems
  • AI-enabled EMR platform (implementation underway)
  • Collaborative physician group providing peer support and cross-coverage
  • Efficient clinic operations with exceptionally low no-show rates
  • Minimal after-hours call burden, averaging approximately one out-of-hours call per month

Academic Opportunities

The clinic serves as a teaching site for medical students, family medicine residents, pediatric residents, physician assistants, and nurse practitioner students through established university partnerships. Participation in teaching is entirely optional.

Why Join This Practice?

This clinic offers a unique culture that differs from many traditional medical practices. Physicians work in a supportive, inclusive, and highly collaborative environment where teamwork, mutual respect, and physician input are highly valued. The clinic has fostered a welcoming workplace culture where staff and physicians genuinely enjoy working together, creating a positive atmosphere for both providers and patients. The organization is particularly committed to inclusivity and has developed a workplace culture that embraces neurodiversity, ensuring all team members feel supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
