About Mecka AI
Mecka AI is building the data infrastructure layer for robotics and embodied AI. We design and operate global systems for data capture, data labeling, and hardware-enabled workflows used by leading AI labs and robotics companies to train and validate humanoid and embodied AI systems. We work closely with frontier robotics teams to bridge real-world data, simulation, learning-based systems, and deployed hardware.
The Role
You'll own the software that lets people operate Mecka's connected hardware and use the data it produces. That includes services and operational tools for our device teams, and APIs and SDKs for customers building with our hardware and data. You'll be responsible for service and API design, data integrity, production reliability, and compatibility across device and customer workflows. As data collection grows, these systems need to stay understandable and dependable, especially when devices disconnect, transfers stop, or services fail.
What You'll Do
Own service and API design for connected hardware and data-intensive workflows, including the data models behind them.
Keep data accurate and complete, and keep production services reliable, across device and customer workflows.
Build telemetry, diagnostics, and operational tools that help engineers understand how devices and services are behaving.
Develop APIs, SDKs, and command-line tools that help hardware and data customers integrate Mecka into their workflows.
Implement asynchronous workflows that handle retries, duplicate events, and interrupted transfers predictably.
Test complete user workflows end to end, and maintain documentation, monitoring, and backward compatibility as the platform evolves.
What You Bring
Must-have:
5+ years of software engineering experience, including strong backend programming and operating production services in a language such as Python, Go, or TypeScript.
Depth in at least one of these areas:
Service reliability: telemetry, monitoring, diagnostics, and operational tooling for distributed systems.
Developer experience: APIs, SDKs, command-line tools, documentation, and useful examples.
Experience designing APIs, data schemas, and databases, with practical knowledge of SQL and query performance.
Understanding of how distributed systems fail, including retries, duplicate events, interrupted transfers, and intermittent connectivity.
Knowledge of authentication, authorization, automated testing, versioning, and release practices.
Ability to debug across services, client software, and device interfaces, and to explain system behavior clearly.
Nice-to-have:
A Note on Applying
Studies show women and candidates from underrepresented groups often only apply when they meet 100% of the listed qualifications, while others apply after meeting 60%. If you don't check every box above but believe you can do the job, we encourage you to apply - we're looking for capability and trajectory, not a perfect checklist match.

Use of Artificial Intelligence in Recruitment
Mecka uses artificial intelligence (AI) responsibly to support administrative and efficiency-focused aspects of our recruitment process. This includes activities such as drafting job descriptions, generating interview questions, note-taking and recordings, and supporting sourcing and scheduling workflows. All candidate evaluations, interviews, and hiring decisions are made by members of the Mecka team. While AI tools may assist with screening and assessment, they do not replace human judgment in selection decisions. Our use of AI is intended to streamline routine tasks, improve consistency, and enhance the overall candidate experience. We are committed to upholding principles of fairness, transparency, and accountability in all hiring activities. Mecka regularly reviews its recruitment practices to mitigate bias and to ensure alignment with applicable laws and evolving best practices.
