Original job description

Clinical Manager, Youth Mental Health | Bay of Quinte, Ontario | On site, 35-hour week

$78,000 to $99,000 | Permanent, full time | Defined pension, 4% matched

Lead the clinical programs of an established youth-serving community agency in Eastern Ontario: a team of sixteen therapists, case managers and program staff supporting young people aged 13 to 24 with mental health, substance use and housing needs. You report straight to the Executive Director, sit on a leadership team of four, and have a clinical consultant beside you carrying clinical supervision so you can carry the program. And the week ends at 4:30. Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30, 35 hours, no on-call, no evenings, no weekends. In community mental health leadership, that is rare, and it is real. MediFlex Talent Solutions is leading this search on behalf of our client, a provincially funded non-profit that has served its community for more than forty years. The organization’s name is shared with shortlisted candidates.

What you will lead

  • Day-to-day operations of four programs: mental health counselling, youth substance use support and treatment, transitional-aged youth services, and housing support workers.
  • Incoming referrals and the waitlist, assigning clients and balancing caseloads across the therapy team.
  • Hiring, supervising, training and evaluating program staff, with the Executive Director.
  • Crisis response when staff need a decision now.
  • Funding proposals, ministry reporting, program targets and the statistical reporting behind them, with a hand in the program budget.
  • The agency’s privacy function: you are the Privacy Officer, with monthly audits and an annual report.
  • Program planning and development against funding contracts and regulatory requirements.
  • Representing the agency on regional committees and at Board meetings; partnerships with community agencies.
  • Documentation standards in EMHware.

What you bring

  • A graduate degree in psychology, social work or a related field.
  • Current registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
  • Experience supervising clinicians or program staff: a team lead, supervisor or manager who came up through frontline practice. About five years of related experience.
  • Assessment and therapy skills across individual, group and family work, ideally with youth and young adults.
  • Working knowledge of the Mental Health Act, PHIPA and related legislation.
  • A valid driver’s licence, and the ability to be on site in the Bay of Quinte area five days a week.

What is offered

  • $43.06 to $54.55 per hour on a nine-step grid, 35 hours per week. Placement depends on experience.
  • Defined pension: 4% employee contribution matched at 4%.
  • Three weeks’ vacation, rising to four after two years.
  • Fifteen sick and personal days per year.
  • Group health, dental, paramedical and vision coverage, plus a $700 annual health care spending account.
  • A permanent seat in a provincially funded program, not a contract.

Who this suits

A team lead or clinical supervisor ready for a manager title with real scope, who would rather run a program well than chase a bigger salary at a hospital with on-call. Someone who finds the 16-to-24 age group the most rewarding work there is. Someone who lives within an hour, or wants to.

The process

One conversation with MediFlex, then one on-site interview with the agency’s leadership, including a walk-through of the office and the team. We move quickly and we tell you where you stand. MediFlex Talent Solutions is committed to equitable recruitment. Accommodations are available throughout the process on request.
