Original job description
Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT), Technical Checking, Closed-Door Pharmacy
Scarborough, ON | Full-time | $30/hr to $40/hr
If you’re a registered technician who would rather spend the day checking than at a counter, this is worth a look. Mediflex Talent Solutions is recruiting a Registered Pharmacy Technician for an established, high-volume closed-door pharmacy in Scarborough that serves group homes across the region. This is a checking role. You’ll sit with a team of four experienced RPhTs, led by a dedicated technical team lead, doing the technical and final checks that keep a large individualized-packaging operation accurate and safe. Pharmacy assistants handle most of the system entry, there is no immunization focus, and the workflow is organized enough that the volume feels manageable rather than relentless.
What you’ll do
- Perform technical checks on prescriptions and prepared medication orders within the RPhT scope of practice
- Verify the accuracy of medication packaging, trays, and related technical documentation
- Identify discrepancies and flag them promptly to the right team member
- Work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, and the production team to keep the workflow accurate and on time
- Follow pharmacy procedures and contribute to a supportive, quality-focused team
What you’ll bring
- Active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (required)
- Ideally one year or more of pharmacy technician experience
- Closed-door, long-term care, hospital, or other institutional pharmacy experience is an asset; strong community pharmacy experience is also welcome
- Sharp attention to detail, a collaborative and easygoing style, and openness to prompt, constructive feedback
- Kroll experience is an asset, not a requirement
Schedule
Weekday rotations currently run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no regular weekend rotation at present.
Why this role
- Predictable weekday daytime hours and no retail counter
- A stable, experienced team, several with five or more years in the role, and a team lead who sets you up to succeed
- Organized workflows in a specialized group-home pharmacy operation, a skill set that travels well
How to apply
Apply in confidence through Mediflex Talent Solutions. Send your resume and OCP registration details through LinkedIn, or message Kathy Faria, Search Lead, with any questions. The client’s identity is shared with shortlisted candidates.
