Role Description The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a full-time, on-site role located at Mehtoj Group Ltd.’s Winnipeg, MB facility. This role is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment and company vehicles, including trucks, trailers, and related mechanical systems. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled maintenance, addressing mechanical and electrical issues, conducting safety inspections, and documenting all work in maintenance records. The mechanic will use diagnostic tools, follow manufacturer specifications, and collaborate with operations staff to minimize downtime and maintain fleet reliability. The role also involves maintaining a clean and safe work area, adhering to health and safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement in maintenance practices.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Vehicle Maintenance to perform regular inspections, servicing, and preventive care.
• Candidates should possess practical expertise in Equipment Repair and Heavy Equipment work, including component replacement, hydraulic systems, and drivetrain repairs.
• Candidates should possess advanced Troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and performance issues efficiently and accurately.
• Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic or Diesel Technician, or equivalent experience in a similar role (Red Seal).
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, service bulletins, and schematics, and to use diagnostic software and tools safely.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, fleet-based environment.
• Physical ability to work with heavy components, stand for extended periods, and perform duties in varying shop and yard conditions.
• Valid driver’s license; experience in the transportation or logistics industry is an asset.
