Role Description This part-time, on-site role is based in Toronto, ON and involves working directly with children in childcare centre settings. Early Childhood Educators and Assistants will support daily classroom routines, implement age-appropriate activities, and help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment. Responsibilities include supervising children, assisting with transitions, supporting social and emotional development, and following centre policies and regulatory requirements. Team members will collaborate with centre staff, communicate effectively with families and colleagues, and complete documentation related to children’s attendance, activities, and incidents. The role may also involve providing flexible coverage for planned absences, unexpected staffing needs, and ongoing program support.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and experience Working With Children, including building positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Early Childhood Development and the ability to support age-appropriate learning and social-emotional growth.
- Candidates should possess Creativity Skills to plan and facilitate engaging, play-based activities and adapt programming to diverse needs and interests.
- Candidates should possess Organization Skills to manage routines, maintain orderly learning spaces, and follow health, safety, and documentation requirements.
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) Diploma
- Understanding of Ontario childcare regulations, health and safety standards, and inclusive practices is preferred.
- Ability to be flexible, reliable, and responsive to changing schedules and centre needs.
- Current clear vulnerable sector screening and up-to-date immunizations, including any required by local regulations, are beneficial.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a licensed Ontario childcare centre
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification
- Current Vulnerable Sector Check
- Up-to-date immunization records
- RECE applicants must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Strong English communication skills
- Reliable and able to travel to different childcare centre locations
- Ability to provide all required documentation prior to beginning employment
