Product Specialist

Role Description The Product Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Ajax, ON, responsible for supporting the product lifecycle from selection through distribution. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing product performance, assisting with assortment planning, and collaborating with sales and customer service teams to address client needs. The role involves maintaining product information, preparing presentations and samples, and responding to inquiries from internal stakeholders and customers. The Product Specialist will participate in market research, monitor trends in office and school products, and provide feedback to improve product offerings. This position works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the company’s product range remains competitive, appealing, and aligned with brand standards.

Qualifications

• Product specialization skills, including experience as a Product Specialist or in product coordination and support.
• Assist the Product Managers in sourcing new items from beginning to end – including sourcing, sampling, costing, inspection, artwork & ordering
• Communicate with Suppliers to find new product, negotiate costing, follow up on samples and orders, etc.
• Maintaining records of incoming new products and samples
• Setting up model numbers, suppliers and wholesale costing
• Working with Brokers to ensure duties and Anti-Dumping penalties are accurate
• Work with Graphic Designer to develop new product artwork
• Maintain showrooms ensuring product and packaging is all up to date and accurate
• Participate in meetings, shows, travel as required
• Strong analytical skills for reviewing sales data, product performance, and market trends to inform decisions.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools, including spreadsheets and presentation software.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills for managing product data and documentation.
• Ability to work on-site in Ajax, ON, in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
• Post-secondary education in business, marketing, merchandising, or a related field is an asset.
• Experience in purchasing, distribution, retail, stationery, or school/office products is beneficial.
