Original job description

The Opportunity

As an Intermediate Full-Stack Developer on the Growth team, you'll build the experiments that decide how new users sign up, find value and subscribe to Method. You'll ship real changes to the early customer journey, see how they move conversion, and grow your ownership over time with coaching from the Growth tech lead and your manager.

The Growth Team

The Growth team is dedicated to helping SMBs easily sign up, find value and subscribe to Method. We drive continuous growth for our platform by maximizing conversion through seamless onboarding, trial engagement and learning key workflows. Our approach relies on ongoing experiments to test growth opportunities, optimize the early customer journey and support continued discovery. You'll work closely with the Growth tech lead, Product, Design and QA.

About Method

Method is the operating system thousands of small businesses run their day on, purpose-built for QuickBooks and Xero users who have outgrown spreadsheets and generic tools. Our no-code customization engine lets customers design workflows that fit their business, and we're now layering AI on top to help them build and automate those workflows faster than ever.

What You'll Do

Build and ship experiment variations end to end across React / TypeScript and .NET Core, from an agreed hypothesis to production.
Own implementation decisions within the approved scope of an experiment, with regular review and coaching from your tech lead.
Work across the full early user journey: the systems that bring new users in, get them to value and keep them subscribed.
Instrument and monitor the features you build, so the team can see whether an experiment worked.
Work in an AI-native planning, execution and verification loop: use AI to understand requirements, generate and refactor code, and validate before shipping. Own what you ship.
Write automated tests alongside your implementations, working closely with QA to meet quality standards.
Escalate early when experiment scope expands, architecture is affected, customer data integrity is at risk, or AI-generated output can't be safely verified.

What You Bring

We know the ideal candidate doesn't exist. If you don't check every box, we'd still love to hear from you, because growth potential is real here. That said, three things are non-negotiable: you use AI tools every day, you verify what they produce before you ship it, and you protect customer data and accounts as if they were your own.

3+ years building and shipping production web applications across front end and back end.
Strong backend fundamentals in C# / .NET Core, or equivalent in Java, Node or a comparable stack.
Strong frontend fundamentals in React / TypeScript, or equivalent in Angular or Vue.
Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and an ORM.
A solid grasp of API design, real-world debugging and writing clean, maintainable code.
Hands-on experience with unit and integration testing as a first-class part of delivery.
Comfort shipping lean MVPs and iterating based on what the results show.
Daily use of AI coding tools (Claude, Codex, Copilot or equivalent), with the judgment to understand and own what you ship.
You communicate trade-offs and uncertainty clearly, and you ask for help early.

Bonus points

Experience with product analytics tools such as Amplitude, Segment or Google Analytics.
Familiarity with A/B testing, feature flags or experimentation frameworks.
Experience with billing or subscription systems.
Experience with no-code or low-code platforms, or products built around configurability.
Experience with AWS (including SQS), MongoDB, ElasticSearch, Datadog or Docker.

What We Offer

🌐 Flexible hybrid work model – designed to support work-life balance while maintaining strong team collaboration; employees work from our downtown Toronto office 2–3 days per week

🎉 Collaborative and social team culture – work in a supportive environment with regular team events and company-wide celebrations that keep things fun and connected

🚀 Growth-stage company experience – working at a scaling growth company like Method gives you deep insight into how a software company operates. You'll be involved in a wide range of discussions and initiatives, gaining experience that's hard to find in more siloed environments.

📚 Training – You will receive initial and ongoing training on Method’s products, policies and procedures as well as a quarterly professional development budget.

📍Great downtown location – Method is located right in the heart of Toronto’s young and vibrant ‘King West’ technology hub at the corner of Adelaide and Spadina Ave.

🩺 Comprehensive health benefits – inclusive of healthcare, vision, and dental coverage to support your overall well-being

🥗 Weekly lunch credit – enjoy a meal on us every week as a small way to say thanks

What to Expect in Your First 90 Days

First 30 days: Onboard with the team through tailored 1:1s, complete Method's Bootcamp, and learn our engineering standards, tools and the Growth team's experiment-driven rhythm. Fix small bugs to get to know the codebase.
By 60 days: Ship your first experiment to production, with tests and tracking in place, and help with daily releases and monitoring.
By 90 days: Own experiments end to end within agreed scope, deploy to production with confidence, and set goals for the rest of the year with your manager.

As you grow, you'll take on more autonomy, share the AI workflows that work for you with the team, and help other developers with design decisions.

Job type: Full-time, permanent.

Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 per year, depending on experience, scope and level of responsibility. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, technical skills and role level assessed through the interview process.

This is an active role we are currently hiring for, and we thank all applicants for their interest. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. We kindly request that recruiting agencies do not contact us regarding this position.

AI in Recruitment

At Method, we use artificial intelligence (AI) to help support and enhance our recruitment process. These tools may assist with tasks such as resume screening, drafting job descriptions, generating initial interview questions, transcription, and occasionally sourcing candidates.

AI is never used to make final hiring decisions. All hiring decisions are made by our team. Our use of AI is intended to support administrative and repetitive tasks, helping us streamline our workflows while maintaining a thoughtful and human-centered hiring experience.

We are committed to the responsible and ethical use of AI in our recruitment practices. Our standardized hiring processes are designed to reduce bias and promote fairness, and we regularly review and refine our practices to align with evolving industry standards and legal guidelines.

Method is an equal opportunity employer for all - regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, marital status or able-bodiedness. As part of our commitment to be an inclusive and accessible workplace, we’re happy to provide accommodations for candidates taking part in the selection process.
