Our Engineering & Safety Division is looking for a Project Coordinator, Technical Standards Development to support internal and external subject matter experts who are involved architectural and engineering design, technical standards, and operating procedures for Metrolinx.
What Will Be Doing?
- Coordinate development of standards as assigned, and applicable through the lifecycle of infrastructure projects, including coordinating contributions to procurement requirements and documentation, facilitating measurable technical requirements and coordinating amendments and approvals of standards documents.
- Perform day-to-day standards and deviation administration such as organizing electronic files, coordinating meetings (internal and external), attending meetings related to standards development or deviations, organizing, reporting on tasks including KPIs.
- Assists to identify and facilitates development of standards with asset class teams including preparation of standard implementation plans and LEAN initiatives.
- Coordinates the development and implementation of processes and procedures, including future procedural updates and LEAN initiatives, to guide and administer deviations from published technical standards and standard operating procedures.
- Contributes input to the procurement and contracts process for consulting services as assigned.
- Identifies policy, procedure, and information problems, and develops recommendations for improvements and/or corrective action.
- Monitors the delivery of consultant services for their work through all phases of the standards assignment and reports internal stakeholder group requirements through all stages, such as reporting, requirements for standards and specifications.
- Plans, forecasts, monitors and reports standards assignments.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- A college diploma or university degree in a related discipline (Engineering, Architecture) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Minimum Five (5) years-experience related to civil, railway, facilities engineering and/or architecture standards and compliance within the planning, design and construction of transit facilities, interpreting and applying contract plans and specifications and co-ordinating contracted engineering standards development projects.
- Must successfully complete safety and any other training and certification required to stay up to date with current regulations and industry standards and required by corporate policy. Eligibility for P.Eng. or OAA designation would be considered an asset.
- May be required to attend seminars, workshops and courses as part of continued education and to stay up to date with current regulations and industry standards.
- Knowledge of the theory, principles and practices of related engineering and/or architecture as it relates Metrolinx infrastructure, facilities and modes of transit is an asset.
- Detailed knowledge of process and practice management including scheduling, internal reviews, mediation, collaborative methods, progress monitoring, corporate policies and procedures.
- Thorough understanding of applicable law.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to work independently, strong interpersonal and negotiating skills and analytical ability are required.
- Proficiency in the use of process management software and computer applications is essential.
- Facilitates and recommends policies & procedures relating to deviations, standards development, management and governance.
