This role supports project delivery in the Scarborough Subway Extension’s Vice President’s Office by providing infrastructure delivery advice and project management expertise that impacts and supports the successful delivery of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. A core function of this role is to provide solutions that meet corporate needs, stakeholder and customer expectations - all in a timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
What will I be doing?
Supports project delivery by initiating and facilitating productive relationships across the organization to engage stakeholders and enable an integrated and inclusive approach. Coordinates internal and external consultation processes to identify key issues, conduct options analysis, and support project delivery with minimal adverse impact to cost and schedule.
Supports the development of memos, reports, and submissions to the Metrolinx Board of Directors and its committees, contributes to provincial government submissions (e.g., Cabinet/Treasury Board Submissions), and coordinates corporate reporting and information-sharing requirements (e.g., briefing/information notes, slide decks).
Provides strategic project delivery and issue management support.
Assemble and package, stakeholder engagement, current status, and technical information to internal communications and community relations experts to ensure a strong and positive public presence for the project.
Collaborates with all levels of management and works cross-functionally across the organization to support internal alignment for matters related to project delivery.
Supports and coordinates with all levels within the project team and broader organization on the development, implementation and outcome tracking of continuous improvement initiatives.
Disseminates information and communicates ideas on behalf of management to align the primary focus with overall project objectives and ensure accurate resource allocation has been approved.
Handles simultaneous complex situations and multiple responsibilities across ongoing activities and identifies the urgency of immediate demands.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Communication, interpersonal, consultative, and negotiation skills to establish and maintain business relationships and partnerships within the organization, with relevant provincial ministries, other jurisdictions, service providers, and stakeholders to provide expertise and advice, influence decisions, address complex and/or sensitive issues, and present solutions.
Written and verbal communication skills to prepare a range of reports and briefings, participate in building and negotiating agreements, and represent the organization on internal and external committees and working groups.
Project management skills, including planning, organization, and coordination, determine priorities and meet strict deadlines in a publicly sensitive environment.
Strong issues analysis, risk mitigation, and issues management skills to identify complex and contentious project and/or contract issues and make recommendations.
Political acuity to anticipate and recognize sensitive situations and respond to issues that may impact Metrolinx with sound recommendations, guidance, advice, and strategies.
Knowledge of public sector decision-making structures and processes in Canadian provincial, federal, municipal, and regional governments is an asset.
