Senior Business Intelligence Performance Analyst

Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Strategy & Centres of Excellence team is looking for a Senior BI Performance Analyst to support development and alignment of reporting platforms corporate wide by conducting or participating in analytics projects to enhance understanding of business activity, deliver actionable insights into business areas, and provide reporting that meet the needs of management, and executives.

What will I be doing?

• Designs, develops and aligns reporting tools to support Metrolinx executive leadership’s ability to make informed business decisions.
• Develops automated dashboards, reporting tools, and data solutions to track progress toward Metrolinx’s annual and multi-year strategic objectives. Integrates, transforms, and analyzes data from enterprise systems, data lakes, Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, and financial and non-financial data sources. 
• Identifies opportunities to automate manual reporting processes, strengthen data validation and governance, improve reporting efficiency, and develop standardized performance measures and visualizations that provide reliable and actionable business insights.
• Supports Metrolinx business units with BI system self-serve capabilities.
• Participates in periodic reviews of BI systems and reports with Executive Leadership team.
• Liaises with Metrolinx business units to understand system design functionality and best interpret, design, and support reporting for all internal and external customers.
• Liaises with Metrolinx divisions to understand their needs for current and future reporting capabilities and align and automate with other corporate wide reporting systems. 
• Plans and facilitates enterprise root cause analysis activities, identifies areas for focus, synthesizes and leverages information for the development of business improvement strategies. 

• Defines and implements data reporting and analysis best practices (e.g., data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation).

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Completion of a diploma or degree in a discipline related to business intelligence, data analytics, information systems or an equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency in business intelligence, data visualization, and analytics tools, including Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, R and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated experience with using and generating reports from Business Intelligence (BI) systems.
• Strong analytical skills, with experience in statistical analysis, regression modeling and forecasting, time/series analysis, data mining, and financial analysis. 
• Demonstrated experience in using and developing BI systems, including report and dashboard development. 
• Advanced skills with standard software programs (Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Excel), reporting (Tableau, Qliksense, Power BI) and query and visualization tools(SQL, R, Python, Power BI) 
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build positive, productive interpersonal relationships with stakeholders.

• Good business acumen and the ability to apply strategic thinking to methodologies, processes, systems and business strategy and improvement plans.
