Original job description

At Metta Lifestyles, we are redefining what retirement living looks like. We are a proudly Canadian, locally owned and operated company with retirement communities in Toronto and Ottawa. We provide assisted living, memory care, enhanced care, and respite stays: a full continuum of support, including higher levels of care not often found in other retirement residences. Our goal is for residents to age in place and receive the care they need at every stage of their journey, without having to move again.

We are investing significantly in our homes, repositioning our communities and raising the standard of what a retirement residence can be. Our homes are boutique rather than institutional. We know our residents by name, and we pair exceptional care with hospitality, connection, and choice so residents do not just live here, they thrive.

At the heart of everything we do are our CARES values: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Support. These values guide how we care for our residents, support our teams, and lead our communities.

We are seeking a talented leader who is passionate about creating exceptional resident and employee experiences and making a meaningful impact in the lives of seniors and the teams who support them.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the General Manager provides overall leadership for the residence, with accountability for resident and employee experience, occupancy, operational excellence, and financial performance.

The General Manager will lead and develop an engaged management team, foster a positive and accountable workplace culture, oversee departmental and financial performance, and support sales and marketing initiatives to drive occupancy.

The ideal candidate is a visible, people-focused leader with strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for seniors. They understand that an exceptional resident experience starts with an exceptional employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

Provides overall operational leadership for the residence, ensuring excellence in resident and employee experience, customer service, continuous improvement, food services, health and wellness, recreation, health and safety, facilities, and financial management.
Participates in the development, execution and achievement of the long-term strategic plan for the residence.
Maintains Metta Lifestyles’ high standards of superior customer service while building and maintaining strong relationships with the local community, current and prospective residents, employees, and managers.
In collaboration with our Sales team, develops and implements marketing initiatives to attract prospects and referral sources to our communities by showcasing our features, functions and benefits in order to achieve occupancy goals.
Promotes good communication and a healthy work environment to achieve a high level of employee satisfaction.
Conducts annual performance reviews of the management team and addresses any performance issues.
Leads and oversees the development of annual team objectives and goals.
Promotes and maintains capital and operational budgets.
Monitors financial performance of departments. In addition, monitor inventory and purchasing activities, and manage capital projects and expenditures.
Ensures service expectations are met by understanding business issues and concerns, obtaining feedback from residents on service levels and quality of care in order to continuously exceed service expectations.
Conducts prompt follow-ups on all visits and inquiries.
Ensures model suites and/or show rooms are in proper order and always ready for tours.
Makes recommendations to the VP, Operations on how to maximize resident satisfaction, streamline processes, seek new revenue opportunities and other opportunities of value.

Competitive salary of $100,000 - $125,000, based on years of leadership experience
