Original job description

Welcome to MIC Medical Imaging!

At MIC, our uncompromising commitment to excellence in diagnostic imaging, coupled with our investment in technology and quality patient care, instills confidence in patients and physicians across the communities we serve. We are an innovator in the healthcare industry, a recipient of the consumer choice award for business excellence, and a talent destination for over 500 team members. Our staff are passionate about improving the healthcare journey for patients and their family members, and proudly support local organizations working towards the same goal.

If you are looking for a meaningful career opportunity, our organization could be the perfect fit!

Help Shape the Future of Diagnostic Imaging at MIC

Artificial intelligence is beginning to change how diagnostic imaging organizations operate, from clinical decision support and workflow optimization to automation, analytics and the patient experience.

MIC Medical Imaging is taking the next step in that evolution.

We're looking for an AI & Digital Innovation Lead to help us build our AI capability and identify practical opportunities where emerging technologies can make diagnostic imaging better.

You'll work directly with radiologists, technologists, operational leaders and technology teams to identify opportunities, evaluate solutions, lead pilots and help successfully introduce AI into real clinical and operational environments.

What You'll Do

Help develop MIC's AI and digital innovation roadmap.
Identify high-value AI and automation opportunities.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and vendors.
Lead AI pilots and implementations.
Work with radiologists and technologists to integrate solutions into clinical workflows.
Help establish MIC's AI governance framework.
Measure whether implemented technologies are delivering the intended results.
Work across Technology, Clinical Operations, Privacy, Security and Data & Analytics.
Help employees understand and confidently adopt new AI-enabled tools.
Keep MIC connected to developments in AI and diagnostic imaging.

What You Bring

You'll bring a combination of healthcare knowledge, technology understanding and the ability to turn ideas into practical solutions.

We're particularly interested in candidates with experience in diagnostic imaging, health informatics, clinical technology, digital health, data/analytics or healthcare innovation.

You don't need to be an AI researcher or spend your day building machine-learning models.

You do need to understand technology, ask excellent questions, work effectively with clinicians and technical teams, and be comfortable building something new.

Qualifications

A degree or diploma in computer science, data science, AI Machine Learning, Information Technology, or a related field - or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
8+ years in data/ML platform engineering, including production infrastructure ownership; healthcare imaging or other regulated data environment strongly preferred.
Hands-on depth in data pipeline architecture, GPU infrastructure, containerization, and ML workload operations.
Demonstrated experience implementing privacy-preserving data handling - anonymization, access control, auditing under a regulatory framework.
Familiarity with DICOM, PACS/RIS integration, and radiology data structures is a significant asset.
Demonstrated experience leading technology initiatives through multiple stages, including opportunity identification, evaluation, pilot, implantation, adoption and ongoing performance monitoring

Why This Role Is Different

You'll be joining MIC at the beginning of this journey.

Rather than stepping into an established AI department, you'll have an opportunity to help build the function, establish the roadmap and shape how AI is responsibly introduced across our organization.

If you're excited about the intersection of healthcare, diagnostic imaging, technology and innovation, we'd love to hear from you.

The MIC Story

MIC Medical Imaging is Canada’s largest radiology partnership, with more than 100 radiologist physicians and over 500 technologists and support staff. MIC serves the greater Edmonton area, offering a wide range of diagnostic imaging services, including x-ray, ultrasound, MRI, CT, and more. MIC is an expert and trusted partner to Edmonton and surrounding area. MIC Medical Imaging Radiologists play an essential role in 17 Edmonton area hospitals and community health centres. We are proud to extend the same expert level of diagnostic imaging to practitioners and patients through our 15 community-based clinics in Edmonton, St. Albert, Ft. Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park. We boast the largest group of sub-specialized radiologists in the province, unique work environments, state-of-the-art equipment, learning and development training, career advancement opportunities, and more. MIC is committed to supporting local organization such as the United Way, Mercy Ships

Imaging Excellence Starts with Healthy, Engaged Employees

Our people form the foundation for imaging excellence and are the reason practitioners, patients, hospitals, and professional sports teams like the Edmonton Oilers trust us with their medical imaging needs. We take care of our employees, so that they will take care of our patients. At MIC, we provide:

Competitive compensation

Flexible work commitments to accommodate life changes (i.e. full time, part time, casual)

Comprehensive health and dental coverage

Vacation allocated on years of services

Employer-sponsored pension program (RPP)

Professional learning and development opportunities

Supports to improve the physical and mental health of our employees

Vacation Purchase-Sell Program: provide increased flexibility and support the changing lifestyle needs of our employees

Recognition events including an annual staff holiday party, site celebrations, and social events for staff and their families.

MIC Medical Imaging is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity in the workplace.

If you are passionate about health care and possess the knowledge, skills, and experience we are looking for, please submit your application today. Please note only qualified individuals selected for an interview will be contacted. Thank you for considering MIC Medical Imaging during your career search.
