Original job description

Who We Are

Mindful OT Services is a private paediatric occupational therapy clinic in Newmarket, Ontario, serving children and youth with sensory processing differences, developmental delays, neurodivergence (Autism, ADHD), and complex motor needs. Our team of five regulated OTs delivers specialized programming across gross motor development, primitive reflex integration, sensory processing, adolescent life skills, HeartMath biofeedback, art therapy, and animal-assisted programming.

We are a small, high-calibre team led by a founder-clinician with deep expertise in paediatric OT. We do not operate as a churn-and-burn clinic. Every OT on our team is invested in the work, in the families we serve, and in each other.

The Opportunity

We are hiring a Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join the Mindful OT team in a full-time (5 days/week).

This is a fresh-build opportunity. You will develop your own caseload from the ground up, working with newly referred clients. There is no inheriting of other therapists’ files. You build your clinical identity here from day one, with the full support of our team behind you.

Our clinic operates evenings and weekends - a structure designed to eliminate your commute stress, protect time for self-care, and maximize your professional impact by seeing families when they are most available and most likely to attend consistently.

What You’ll Do

• Conduct paediatric OT assessments – across sensory, gross motor, fine motor, and developmental domains

• Design and implement individualized treatment plans – for children and youth with neurodevelopmental differences

• Build and maintain your own caseload – of new referrals, growing from part-time to full-time over a supported ramp-up period

• Collaborate with families, schools, and interdisciplinary partners – to ensure cohesive care and lasting outcomes

• Participate in group programming – including specialty services such as sensory groups, motor programs, and adolescent life skills

• Document clearly and efficiently – using our electronic charting system with admin support provided

• Contribute to the team culture – through collaboration, mentorship, and shared growth

Who You Are

Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) and in good standing

Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program

Experience in paediatric OT (new grads with strong placements welcome to apply)

Knowledgeable in sensory processing, motor development, and/or neurodevelopmental approaches

A self-starter who takes initiative, shows up fully, and invests in relationships

Committed to growth - not just completing sessions, but developing as a clinician and leader

Values alignment with Depth, Leadership, Loyalty, and Stability

Your Ramp-Up Period

We know that building a caseload takes time, and we structure for that intentionally. During your ramp-up period you will:

Receive onboarding, orientation, and mentorship from our founder and senior clinicians

Be introduced to our clinical frameworks, programs, and families with full team support

Gradually build your own fresh caseload of newly referred clients at a pace that sets you up for sustainable success

We invest in this period because we are investing in you for the long term.

Compensation

• Hourly Rate – $60–$80/hour, commensurate with experience - up to $96,000/year at full-time

• Paid Administrative Time – We value your full scope of work, not just billable hours

• Paid Sick Time – Because you deserve to rest when you’re unwell

• Paid Training Opportunities – Time and support to grow professionally from day one

Full Benefits Package - Upon Full-Time Transition

As you grow into your full-time role, you will access our complete benefits offering:

• Premium Work Environment – Private therapy rooms, specialized equipment, and curated clinical resources

• Comprehensive Health & Dental Benefits – Extended health, dental, and disability insurance coverage

• Professional Development Scholarship – Funding to support continuing education, certification, and skill development in your areas of clinical interest

• Group Program Bonuses – Performance incentives tied to participation in group programming and specialty services

• Team Investment & Culture – Team meals, social events, and a genuinely collaborative clinic culture

What We Offer Beyond the Pay Rate

At Mindful OT, we offer more than a job. We provide a platform for meaningful professional growth, emotional stability, and leadership development.

• Growth-Oriented Mentorship & Coaching – Ongoing support to help you develop as a clinician and a leader - from your first session through to full clinical independence

• Specialty Clinical Exposure – Work with frameworks and programs most private clinics don’t offer: primitive reflex integration, HeartMath biofeedback, art therapy, animal-assisted programming, and adolescent life skills

• Established Referral Base – Join a clinic with an active referral network in York Region - you are building a caseload, not starting from scratch in an empty room

• Administrative & Intake Support – We handle scheduling, intake coordination, and client communication so you can focus on therapy

• No Extensive Driving Required – Services are clinic-based at our Newmarket location

• Life-Integrated Schedule – Evenings and weekends structure means no rush-hour commuting and better client attendance consistency

Our Expectations

We invest deeply in the OTs who join our team. In return, we ask for reciprocity:

Loyalty, initiative, and genuine contribution to the clinic’s success

A commitment to growing - not just maintaining - your clinical practice

Engagement with our team, our values, and the families we serve

Long-term thinking: this is a career investment, not a contract position

If you are looking for a place to clock in and clock out, Mindful OT is not the right fit. If you are looking for a place to build something meaningful, we want to hear from you.

How to Apply

Please send your resume and a brief cover letter telling us why Mindful OT is the right next step for you to:

info@mindful-ot.ca | Subject Line: OT Application - [Your Name]

We review applications on a rolling basis. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. We thank all applicants for their interest in joining the Mindful OT team.
