Help modernize the legal function that serves Minnesota’s Children, Youth, and Families! The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) General Counsel’s Office (GCO) is hiring a Reporting & Visualization Specialist to build DCYF's reporting and analytics framework. In this role, you will create clear, reliable, and actionable insights by designing and delivering reporting solutions. You will lead the full lifecycle of development - from discovery and requirements gathering to data modeling, dashboard creation, deployment, and continuous improvement - using Microsoft 365, Power BI, and other no-code/low-code tools. Your work will significantly improve visibility, strengthen compliance, and support informed decision-making across the department.

What You’ll Do

Discover, analyze, and document reporting needs across DCYF’s GCO and key stakeholders, including identifying data sources and gaps.
Design, build, and refine dashboards and reports using Microsoft 365 (Power BI, SharePoint, Excel) and legal technology integrations.
Create clear and user-friendly visualizations that help attorneys, paralegals, and leaders understand trends, risks, and opportunities.
Document reporting solutions, develop quick-start guides, and provide training to support adoption and encourage data-driven decision-making.
Maintain and continuously improve dashboards to ensure accuracy and reliability.

What Success Looks Like

Clear and reliable dashboards and reports that provide meaningful visibility into the department.
Reporting coverage expanded across multiple priority workflows, with strong user adoption and regular use by attorneys, paralegals, and leaders.

Minimum Qualifications

To facilitate proper crediting, please ensure that your resume clearly describes your experience in the areas listed and indicates the beginning and ending month, day and year for each job held.**

Two (2) years* of experience in designing, managing or improving reporting systems, workflows, or platforms using data visualization or no-code/low code development tools such as Power BI and Excel.

Experience Must Demonstrate The Following

Experience developing reporting solutions that produce clear, reliable and actionable insights.
Experience with leading data visualization projects.
An associate’s degree in computer science, information technology, math, science, engineering, business administration or a related degree may substitute for six (6) months of experience. A bachelor’s degree in the following above may substitute for twelve (12) months of experience.

Applicants who meet the above experience requirements may be further evaluated based on the following during the interview process:

Strong communication skills for user adoption, training and stakeholder engagement.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in legal operations, legal technology, or legal, regulatory and compliance-driven environments.
Experience working with sensitive data, including private or confidential data, under regulatory frameworks such as HIPAA or the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act.
Experience with data visualization in any of the Microsoft 365 suite of tools or Tableau.
Experience developing automated or sustainable reporting workflows that replace manual processes.
Experience in presenting complex legal or operational workflows in accessible dashboard formats for attorneys, leadership, and non-technical staff.
Variety of experiences working effectively with others from different backgrounds and cultures.
