This posting announcement is for two vacancies.

This position is located at Central Office in St. Paul and may have the flexibility to telework, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

This position assists in developing and maintaining a statistically valid Traffic Volume Program and related GIS data to ensure that certification from the FHWA during their annual audit is achieved and the federal Highway Performance Management System (HPMS) requirements are satisfied. This position provides oversite and error checking of other’s work to ensure consistent implementation of procedures. This position will work directly with internal and external partners to coordinate, clarify, and resolve data-related needs.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

Two years of professional GIS experience demonstrating:

Experience using GIS software to create, manage, and publish data.
Experience in creating clear, accessible documents and reports, including user guides for non-technical audiences.
Experience in gathering information, defining issues, developing and implementing solutions, analyzing data, and presenting clear results.
Experience editing XML, CSV, Excel, TXT, or similar data file formats using Microsoft applications or other data management tools.

A Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Surveying, Engineering, Planning or Computer Science substitutes for one year of professional experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience collecting and submitting traffic count data sufficient to produce offical traffic volume estimates.
Experience in using traffic data in the planning, investment, and design process.
Experience in Esri GIS software.

Additional Requirements

Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check.
