REPORTS TO: Director of Human Resources

LOCATION: Montreal (local travel between two warehouses in Pointe-Claire and Dorval, and travel up to four times per year to warehouse located in South Carolina)

Comfortable working on-site 4 days per week and hybrid one day per week depending on business needs

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, The Human Resources Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle for our distribution centre operations, with a strong focus on health & safety compliance and day-to-day HR support for distribution centre staff. Based mainly on-site at our Dorval and Pointe-Claire warehouses, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on distribution environment and wants ownership over both people programs and workplace safety.

Essential Functions

Employee HR Support

Serve as the key point of contact for all DC employees regarding payroll, benefits, leave requests, employment questions, and concerns.
Partner with the HR Generalist to report changes related to payroll or employee status.
Lead engagement initiatives for DC employees, including recognition, events, and satisfaction programs.

Recruitment & Onboarding

Conduct full-cycle recruitment efforts for Distribution Centre positions.
Coordinate job posting, candidate screening, interviews, hiring processes, and pre-employment requirements.
Partner with DC Managers to evaluate, develop and facilitate onboarding programs to ensure employees are equipped for success from day one.
Maintain diligent employee files and onboarding documentation.

Health & Safety

Lead Health & Safety compliance administration for all DC locations in Quebec (Dorval and Pointe-Claire).
Lead and facilitate Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure documentation and follow-up actions are taken.
Support compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and company policies.
Participate in workplace inspections, incident investigations, and corrective action planning.
Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Training & Development

Coordinate employee training programs, certifications, and compliance-related training.
Track training completion and maintain training records.
Work with operational leaders to identify skill development needs.

Disability & CNESST Administration

Lead workers’ compensation file management for any DC cases in Quebec (CNESST).
Administer workplace injury, disability, and return-to-work processes.
Coordinate documentation, communication, and follow-up related to CNESST claims and disability cases.
Support modified work programs and accommodation initiatives.
Maintain accurate records and partner with HR Director to ensure compliance with applicable legislation.

Attendance, Time & Payroll Support

Monitor attendance trends and support absence management initiatives.
Ensure accuracy of employee scheduling, timekeeping, hours worked, and payroll submissions.
Review and approve payroll information for DC employees and liaise with payroll stakeholders on discrepancies and corrections.

Performance & Documentation

Coordinate employee offboarding activities for Distribution Centre employees.
Conduct exit interviews and identify and communicate trends and opportunities for organizational improvement with the HR Director.
Assist with employee communications and policy interpretation.
Act as a resource for employees who need support at times. Communicate benefits options as well as resources to support employees through life events that affect their work.
Apply grounded judgment on when to escalate to HR Director (when the issue is serious, may lead to a leave, or may incur risk to the individual and or others, or may have consequences that are not isolated to the individual.)
Prepare termination documentation and partner with HR Director to ensure compliance with company policies and employment legislation.
Conduct exit processes and maintain appropriate records.
Support DC managers in addressing performance concerns and employee development opportunities.
Lead performance management processes for DC employees, including documentation, coaching, and follow-up support.

Skills And Experience

1 to 3 years of HR experience, ideally within a distribution or warehouse environment.
Hands-on experience managing CNESST cases and health & safety compliance in Quebec is a strong asset.
Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
CHRP designation or working toward designation is considered an asset.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent judgment, discretion, and ability to build trust with employees at all levels.
Strong organizational, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of employment standards, Quebec workplace safety legislation, and disability management practices is a strong asset.
Experience facilitating difficult conversations, supporting performance management and employee relations initiatives is an asset.
HR diploma, degree, or certificate is a strong asset
Additional training in health & safety compliance is a strong asset.
Filipino language skills considered a strong asset given our warehouse workforce.
