Personal Injury Lawyer

2–5 Years of Experience | Etobicoke, Ontario | Hybrid

Our client, a well-established and growing boutique law firm in Etobicoke, is seeking a Personal Injury Lawyer with 2–5 years of experience to join its team. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who is ready to take meaningful carriage of files while working closely with an experienced senior lawyer in a friendly, technology-forward environment.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will manage a busy personal injury caseload with a primary focus on tort matters, including motor vehicle accident claims. The role offers significant independence and responsibility, together with mentorship and strategic guidance from senior counsel.

Key Responsibilities

· Independently manage personal injury files from intake through resolution, with appropriate support and oversight.

· Handle a high-volume caseload consisting primarily of tort claims, including motor vehicle accident matters.

· Draft pleadings, mediation briefs, settlement proposals, correspondence, and other litigation materials.

· Conduct examinations for discovery, mediations, motions, settlement negotiations, and other litigation proceedings.

· Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, insurers, experts, and other stakeholders.

· Assess liability, damages, medical evidence, and litigation strategy throughout the life of each file.

· Use Filevine, artificial-intelligence tools, and other technology to support efficient file management and client service.

· Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm’s personal injury practice.

Qualifications

· Two to five years of personal injury litigation experience, preferably gained in Ontario.

· Called to the Ontario Bar and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.

· Experience managing tort files and a sound understanding of Ontario personal injury litigation procedure.

· Strong drafting, advocacy, negotiation, organizational, and client-service skills.

· Comfort managing a busy caseload and taking ownership of files and deadlines.

· A practical, collaborative, and business-minded approach to legal practice.

· Canadian legal education is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

· Competitive guaranteed base salary with additional fee-based compensation upon reaching an established target.

· Employer-paid benefits.

· Three weeks of paid time off.

· No formal billable-hour target.

· Three-month probationary period.

Work Environment

· Hybrid schedule with four days in the office and one day working remotely.

· Supportive, friendly, and collegial team of approximately 20 professionals.

· Strong commitment to work-life balance, professional development, and modern legal technology.

Why Join?

This role offers the autonomy to manage files, access to senior mentorship, meaningful performance-based upside, and the chance to help grow a respected personal injury practice without a formal billable-hour requirement.
