Original job description
Company Description
Mitrex is Canada’s only S134 / NFPA 285-certified manufacturer of Building-Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV). We manufacture solar facades, cladding, railings, roof panels, and noise barriers that turn building envelopes into clean energy generators, and our work has earned a Guinness World Record. Cladify is our rainscreen and architectural cladding systems brand. We manufacture ventilated rainscreen assemblies in porcelain, ACM, and stone-composite materials - along with subframing systems like Cladishield - that give architects design flexibility without compromising building envelope performance. Mitrex holds ISO 9001, ISO 10002 and ISO 10004 certifications - the only BIPV manufacturer to do so.
Together, our projects range from healthcare and education campuses to high-rise residential and infrastructure. We deliver to general contractors as a supply partner and, on select projects, as a supply-and-install partner.
Location: Canada (Toronto / other cities)
Position type: Full-time, field-based
Compensation: CAD $75,000 – $110,000
The Role
The Architectural Sales Representative is our main contact with the architects, specifiers, designers, contractors and developers who choose building envelope products. You will get Mitrex BIPV products (solar facades, glass and railing systems) and Cladify cladding (composite panels, stone and prefabricated systems) written into specifications at the design stage, then follow those projects through to award. This is specification selling: sales cycles run 12 to 36 months, and results come from relationships with architects built over time. You will run lunch-and-learns, host site visits and factory tours at our Toronto facility, and represent Mitrex and Cladify at industry events. Our engineering and design team handles the detailed technical work, so your focus stays on relationships and specifications.
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain relationships with architects, designers, sustainability consultants and developers across the GTA and your Canadian territory
- Deliver lunch-and-learns and OAA-accredited continuing-education presentations at architecture firms
- Host site tours of completed projects and factory visits at 41 Racine
- Visit firms with samples and follow up on design-stage projects until Mitrex and Cladify are written into the spec
- Track leads and projects in Salesforce, using ConstructConnect and BuildingConnected to find opportunities early
- Pass technical, drawing and pricing requests to our sales, design and estimating team, and remain the client’s main contact through to award
- Represent Mitrex and Cladify at Facades+, Zak World of Façades, OAA and CTBUH events
Who we’re looking for
- 3–10 years selling architectural products to architects: cladding, curtain wall, glazing, metal panels, roofing or interiors
- An existing architect network in your market. You should be able to name 10 architects you could take to lunch next month
- Warm and social. You enjoy hosting, tours and lunches, and people enjoy spending time with you
- Fast and persistent. You reply quickly, propose specific dates, and follow up without being pushy
- Comfortable handing technical detail to the team and keeping the relationship for yourself
- Working knowledge of the architectural design process, the Ontario Building Code / National Building Code and green building standards such as LEED. Solar or cladding product experience is an asset
- Comfortable with Salesforce or another CRM, and able to travel regularly within your territory
- This is a rep-level, individual-contributor role. It is not a management position
Why Mitrex / Cladify
- ISO 9001, ISO 10002 and ISO 10004 certified - a quality system no other BIPV manufacturer holds
- Landmark project portfolio in Canada, the US, and the Middle East
- Growth-stage company investing heavily in new products and technology
- Competitive salary, benefits, and growth path into senior detailing or engineering coordination
- A product that sets you apart: solar-generating facades and architectural cladding from the world’s largest BIPV manufacturer
- Opportunities for career advancement and professional development
Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
