Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, this role will lead the mine engineering function, overseeing mine planning, infrastructure development, ventilation, and geotechnical activities. You will play a key role in developing and executing short-, mid-, and long-term mine plans to achieve production targets while maintaining high standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.

This is a fly-in fly-out opportunity operating on a 14-days-on, 14-days-off rotation, with camp accommodations and meals provided.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead and coordinate mine engineering activities, including annual budgets, reserves, mine planning, surface and underground infrastructure, ventilation, and geotechnical requirements.
  • Develop, optimize, and implement short-term mine plans, including 3-month, 1-month, and weekly plans, to achieve annual production targets safely and economically.
  • Coordinate mid-range and long-range mine infrastructure planning with operations, including dewatering, electrical, and ventilation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering codes, regulations, safety standards, environmental requirements, and operational specifications.
  • Provide technical leadership and operational guidance to engineering and mine operations teams.
  • Develop and monitor short- and long-term plans that support corporate growth strategies in collaboration with corporate technical services.
  • Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings to coordinate activities and achieve operational objectives.
  • Evaluate alternative ore extraction methods, stope access options, and mining sequences, providing recommendations on their benefits and challenges.
  • Prepare month-end and year-end engineering reports and submissions.
  • Coordinate mine engineering activities with geology and mine operations teams.
  • Develop and maintain engineering policies and procedures while ensuring accountability for adherence to mine plans.
  • Work with operations teams to develop engineered solutions to operational challenges and provide the necessary technical drawings and documentation.
  • Recruit, mentor, and retain engineering personnel while supporting departmental succession planning.
  • Promote a strong safety and environmental culture across the organization.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering.
  • Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the Yukon Territory is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience supporting or managing projects at operating underground mines and/or mines undergoing development or expansion.
  • 5+ years of underground operational supervisory or management experience.
  • Strong background in mine services, design, scheduling, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), and contractor management.
  • Proficiency with mine design software and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in underground narrow-vein mining, ground control, and underground/surface water management would be considered assets.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both operational and technical teams.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Willingness to work a remote, fly-in fly-out schedule on a 14-days-on, 14-days-off rotation.

Salary Range: $170,000 to $210,000
