The Opportunity:

Our client, a growing international mining organization, is seeking an experienced Director, Engineering to play a pivotal leadership role in the development of a major uranium mining project in Saskatchewan.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a significant resource development project at a critical stage, with responsibility for shaping and executing the engineering strategy as the project progresses through detailed design, construction, commissioning and ultimately into production.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will be a key member of the project leadership team, responsible for establishing and leading a high-performing engineering function, overseeing multidisciplinary technical teams and working closely with external engineering consultants and EPCM partners.

For an accomplished engineering leader, this is a rare opportunity to influence a major mining development from the ground up, establish the technical foundations for long-term operational success and make a lasting impact on Canada's growing uranium sector.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and execute the overall engineering strategy, ensuring alignment with project objectives, corporate priorities and long-term operational requirements.
  • Lead engineering activities across the project lifecycle, including detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational readiness.
  • Build, develop and lead multidisciplinary engineering teams while providing technical oversight and direction to external consultants, contractors and EPCM partners.
  • Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, processes and performance expectations to ensure consistent, high-quality technical delivery.
  • Oversee engineering designs, specifications and technical decisions to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Identify and manage engineering risks, technical challenges and project interdependencies while developing practical solutions to support successful execution.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring engineering solutions prioritize safe construction, commissioning, operations and long-term maintainability.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, external service providers and technical deliverables to support project cost and schedule objectives.
  • Collaborate with project leadership, regulatory authorities, Indigenous communities and key stakeholders to support project approvals and commitments.
  • Provide engineering leadership through commissioning, startup and operational readiness, ensuring effective technical handover into operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement, technical innovation and collaboration across engineering disciplines.
  • Monitor engineering performance and provide regular updates to senior leadership on progress, risks, costs and critical project milestones.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience within mining, resource development, energy, heavy industrial or major capital project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale capital projects through feasibility, detailed design, construction, commissioning and operational readiness.
  • Proven ability to manage engineering consultants, EPCM contractors and external technical service providers on complex capital projects.
  • Strong technical understanding across multiple engineering disciplines, including process, mechanical, electrical, civil and structural engineering.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments, with a comprehensive understanding of engineering governance, risk management, quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing engineering teams and establishing effective technical processes and standards.
  • Strong project management and commercial capabilities, including experience managing engineering budgets, schedules, resources and competing project priorities.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical and strategic decisions at the senior leadership level.
  • Experience supporting remote or northern mining developments, including engagement with Indigenous communities and regulatory stakeholders, would be considered an asset.
  • A collaborative, solutions-oriented leadership style with a strong commitment to safety, technical excellence and operational performance.
