Original job description
The Opportunity:
I’m partnering with a highly respected, 100% employee-owned multidisciplinary engineering and environmental science firm. They are looking to hire an Environmental Project Manager for their Toronto office to lead meaningful projects that support responsible development, protect ecosystems, and guide clients through complex environmental regulations.
This is a well-suited role suited for an experienced consultant who excels at managing environmental site assessments and remediation programs, mentoring technical teams, and driving business development within the Ontario market.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Providing technical leadership and management for Phase I/One and Phase II/Two Environmental Site Assessments, Risk Assessments, and Remediation Programs.
- Managing the preparation, technical review, and filing of Records of Site Condition (RSCs) in collaboration with Qualified Persons (QPs) and Risk Assessors.
- Overseeing full-cycle project management, including the preparation of work plans, cost estimates, RFPs, and proposals.
- Acting as the primary liaison between clients, regulatory agencies (such as the MECP), and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conducting quality reviews of environmental reports to ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, technical standards, and client objectives.
- Mentoring and providing technical direction to junior staff while contributing to the continuous improvement of internal operating procedures.
- Managing client relationships and actively participating in business development activities to grow the environmental division.
- Staying current on emerging industry trends, regulatory changes, and environmental consulting best practices.
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Geoscience, Earth Science, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive experience as a Project Manager within the environmental consulting industry.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation (or eligibility for registration) is highly preferred; a QPESA designation is a significant asset.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard environmental site assessment practices, hydrogeology, geology, and contaminant transport.
- In-depth understanding of O.Reg. 153/04 requirements and proven experience with the RSC filing process.
- Strong business acumen with experience managing project budgets, client relationships, and proposal development.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Working knowledge of construction practices, earthworks, and the planning development approvals process.
- Familiarity with Vapour Intrusion Assessments, Risk Assessments, or legal project experience is considered a strong bonus.
Compensation Range: $110,000 – $125,000 base salary.
