We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to take ownership of its full-cycle bookkeeping activities. The successful candidate will manage accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, reconciliations, receipts, and financial records while helping streamline information across Dext, QuickBooks, and Buildertrend. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the financial needs of a growing business.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping activities, ensuring financial records are accurate, organized, and up to date.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoices, payments, deposits, and customer collections.
- Process payroll and maintain accurate payroll records and supporting documentation.
- Complete bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Collect, organize, and record receipts and supporting financial documents.
- Maintain clean and accurate financial data across QuickBooks, Dext, Buildertrend, and related systems.
- Review transactions for accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare and submit monthly HST reconciliations and support WSIB reporting requirements.
- Maintain organized digital and physical financial records in preparation for month-end and year-end.
- Support month-end closing activities and prepare accurate financial information for external accounting support.
- Assist with cash-flow tracking, budget monitoring, and financial reporting.
- Prepare financial summaries, reports, and supporting information for management review.
- Track key performance indicators and help provide greater visibility into the company’s financial performance.
- Work closely with the Office Manager and operations team to improve the flow of financial and project information.
- Help streamline bookkeeping processes across the company’s accounting and project management systems.
- Participate in regular financial reviews with company leadership and respond to requests for financial information.
- Support the continued development of the company’s finance function as the business grows.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, business administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience managing full-cycle bookkeeping responsibilities, preferably within a construction, contracting, or project-based environment.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, bank and credit card reconciliations, general ledger entries, and month-end procedures.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using Dext, Buildertrend, or similar accounting and construction management software is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with HST reconciliations, WSIB reporting, and maintaining accurate documentation for external accountants.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining accurate, complete, and well-organized financial records.
- Ability to work across multiple systems and help improve the flow and consistency of financial information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Experience preparing financial reports, cash-flow updates, budgets, and KPI tracking is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with company leadership, operations, and external accounting partners.
- Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable taking ownership of the company’s day-to-day bookkeeping function.
- Positive and coachable, with an interest in growing alongside the company and contributing to the continued development of its finance function.
